The Lamar, The Defence and a case of the Dropsies

Even after all of the drops and screw ups, we still had chances at the end to close it out and choked miserably. Had nothing to do with any coach.

Thats the thing. The guys on the other team are professionals too. You can’t spot that many points and constantly go to the wire and think we will pull it off every time

I just want to make the playoffs, would be great to be the 1 or 2 seed, but our schedule gets much much harder moving forward. I hate that we’ve squandered two gift wins, we better start stacking soon. This team should be 5-0 easy, but we could be looking at 3-4 soon if we’re not careful

The only way this loss becomes acceptable is if the offense uses it as fuel to cut out the fucking mistakes for the rest of the season. Absolutely putrid showing today
Yea the issue is this loss is too close to the Colts loss, this is concerning. What happens when we just get outplayed and lose that way, could spiral out of control

Right, but that’s when the score counts, at the end of the game, not in the first half. lol

Playing the better teams, and especially in the tournament, execution in crunch time is what separates the winners from the losers. We can absorb these losses and still make the post season, but there is little evidence that we would go very far.

The game counts the moment the time starts. 1 TD early and we win this game. Does it count then?

What's utterly annoying is how more often than not, the Steelers defense at home is insanely clutch in the 4th when they need to make a play to seal the game.

Yea the playoffs are looking like less of lock with each passing week. 3 division games left + Lions, Dolphins, 49ers, Chargers, Rams, Jags… brutal.

No, because if you change something earlier in time you can’t assume things will go the same way they did if that change didn’t occur.

Do I think we should have blown them out? Definitely! But things happen, and just because mistakes were made earlier you still want to win. Right? The way you win is to have more points when the clock reads 00:00.

I’ve always said they could put 22 guys that work at the Iron City brewery on the field and still somehow play us tough. It’s just that kind of rivalry.

I hate having to go down to the wire. Stanley picked the greatest time to let that guy just smoke him on that sack fumble

We're making playoffs. yall need to cut that shit out. All things considered we expected growing pains with the new offense.
Growing pains is one thing, duds against bad teams ehhh. Then you think about the quality in the AFC. 8 teams are 3-2 or better at this point. Going to be tough race

I agree with the overall premise.
However, if you do get them to jump (and we did, we just didn't snap it early enough), you get a first down. And you get 2-3 shots at the endzone before you kick.

I'm fine with that mindset. I wouldn't change the strategy. I'd change the execution. Make it clear what's expected and hold people accountable to execute it.
Yeah I guess so but there was about 25 seconds left in the half and they just wanted to run the clock down. The ball wasn’t supposed to be snapped when it was and I don’t think they had a play called. They were going to kick the FG anyway. Our D gave up only 3 points the entire half. Why not kick the FG with 25 left and put the D out there to close out the half.

2-1 in division already. Almost every year SB winner takes a bad loss. I hate this shit but people are overreacting to an extent.

It's an option. Just saying with 25 seconds left and a time out, if they jump, you can run at least two plays to take a shot at the end zone. Not a guarantee you kick the FG there. At least not right away.

I don't fault the decision. I fault the execution.

Agreed. Disappointed by the performance, but look around the league. There's a lot of "good" teams that are 3-2 or worse. And they've laid eggs just as bad. Look around the AFC:

Buffalo pretty much got trounced today by Jacksonville on a neutral field, and got beat week 1 by Zach Wilson.

The teams in our division, quite frankly, are putrid right now. Pittsburgh and Cleveland can barely score 15 points each week, and the Bengals look like shells of themselves.

KC still looks "good" but struggles on offense, and the AFC West, which was supposed to be big and scary, is anything but. There's basically two teams in the league today that are actually more "talented" than us, and its Philly and SF, who aren't in our conference. Everybody else is just kind of "well lets see who shows up that week".
