The Lamar, The Defence and a case of the Dropsies

Then why wasn’t the field goal unit out there? He is full of shit!
That was My first reaction. He was trying to draw them off side to get the first down, but why in that situation? TD or FG puts us up two scores. Just take the f’n FG.

According to Tyler he was supposed to let the time run but panicked when a Steelers player jumped. If so thats twice this happens with a Center. Once to him and the other during the Colts game

I didn’t read or hear him say he panicked. Did he say that? If he did I missed it.

What I heard him say is that he hiked the ball because he thought a D lineman was in the neutral zone, just as all centers are taught to do in a situation where you are trying to draw them offsides.

In hindsight I think he feels that in that instance he probably shouldn’t have depended on the ref to throw the flag.

Yeah I guess my point was why not just kick the FG and avoid any chance of bad things happening. Not sure how much time was left on the clock but the Steelers offense was struggling the whole first half.

Next year OBJ will be out of football. Hopefully we don't have Bateman
Hopefully we can trade him this off-season, he’s not been happy or successful here. Might as well recoup a late pick for him

it's not that the offense sucks. it would have been completely different if they actual caught the damn ball
I’ll check with the experts but i do believe WRs catching the ball does fall under the purview of the offense .

Because we could have survived those drops if everything else wasn't so sloppy.
Because we've gone into our two easiest games so casually that we've lost both.
Yeah I don't buy the first part at all.
If the assumption is the entire game plays out the same (which it doesn't), even if we kick the FG at halftime, we still lose.

We're not going to overcome poor player execution.

Can't believe the number of people pinning this on the coaching today. They certainly had their issues (some that I've already detailed) but this was a pure execution game. Game would have probably been over in the first half if even 50% of the plays that were that to be made were actually made.

I agree with the overall premise.
However, if you do get them to jump (and we did, we just didn't snap it early enough), you get a first down. And you get 2-3 shots at the endzone before you kick.

I'm fine with that mindset. I wouldn't change the strategy. I'd change the execution. Make it clear what's expected and hold people accountable to execute it.

The only way this loss becomes acceptable is if the offense uses it as fuel to cut out the fucking mistakes for the rest of the season. Absolutely putrid showing today

Even after all of the drops and screw ups, we still had chances at the end to close it out and choked miserably. Had nothing to do with any coach.
