The Lamar, The Defence and a case of the Dropsies

Can't believe the number of people pinning this on the coaching today. They certainly had their issues (some that I've already detailed) but this was a pure execution game. Game would have probably been over in the first half if even 50% of the plays that were that to be made were actually made.

I’m pinning it on coaching in so far as we’re now the proud owners of two of the worst losses in the season

I’m pinning it on coaching to the extent that this team seems to just fall apart at the first sign of adversity

Obviously this game is mostly on the receiving group but the way drops and mistakes become contagious on this team with no ability to right itself is why I’m putting some significant blame on coaching too

I said after last week's performance that this week would be telling because they'd have more starters back and that we should look better with that group in than the inferior group. That wasn't even close and they were embarrassingly worse, no less. You can say what you want about execution, but two things point me to coaching... 1- If that 4th and 2 that they failed on in FG range was Lamar's decision alone and Harbs and the rest of the staff missed it, Lamar needs to be fined. At worst, that should have been a TO. And the fact that Harbs or whoever missed it, or whatever, and didn't call a TO is inexcusable. And 2 - Flowers looked lost the entire game. At least 2 TO were called because he didn't seem to know the play.

I get that it's a new OFF, but somebody has some splainin' to do about how reserves can seem more prepared and capable than starters.

The decision to go at the end of the half was a miscommunication that was basically on Linderbaum. He shouldn't have snapped it. He thought he got PIT to cross into the neutral zone so he snapped it trying to get the penalty. They didn't.

The "fine" thing is interesting. I struggle with this with our fanbase. Coaching accountability is "fire them". That's what holding coaches accountable is. What is player accountability? Like what do you do to Bateman? Make him run a million laps? Fine him? Pull him from the game and put him in the "dog house"? Same with Linderbaum.

These guys are just making mistakes. There's nothing else to call it. Like I'm never going to blame coaching for dropped passes because a) it clearly hasn't been a recurring thing and b) these guys have only caught, what, 10,000 balls in their lifetime? They're pro receivers. It's like reading and writing simple words. Catching the football is just like the bare minimum of their job.

I kind of shrug off the loss mostly because we're not losing due to lack of talent. I think we clearly have a better team than every single team we've played this year. The mistakes we make are correctable. Lack of talent isn't. If we correct them, we'll improve. If we don't, we won't.

Shoutout to Rashod Perriman, Nelson Perriman, Zay Perriman, Mark Perriman for carrying on a great tradition among Raven passcatchers
Somebody needs to ask Harbs what his pre-game weed policy is because that group was doing 25 in a 50, and looking a little off kilter.

Hill is so frustrating. Already in his rookie season, he showed flashes and has continued to do so throughout. But the number of fumbles he has been involved in is starting to get silly. And the injuries aren't helping. He may be super-shifty and look awesome at times, but time to realize he cannotbe trusted. A real shame, though

Hill has fumbled the ball twice so far in his career if not mistaken. His game against the Steelers was his first fumble this year. I think he's also only missed one game this year as well. I get the frustration but this really the most we have seen Hill in action since most of his time has been as a special teamer. That's not excuse and a running back shouldn't fumble the ball but I think as raven fans we are generally frustrated with a new offense with some players in new position as starters in this offense without thinking that there will be some growing pains.

If there's ANY solace to take, this offense is gonna do some serious work on opposing defenses when we stop fucking around and do the basics right like catch and not allow fumbles to occur.

Here are some of the reasons I blame the coaching, and it's not just this game:

We tend to take the foot of the gas when we have a 2 score lead. We get super conservative.

One mistake unravels this team for the rest of the game. We get in a funk that this team can't seem to overcome.

Special teams the one area we should be really good at (having a ST coach) we have looked bad all 5 games in.

Continued miss communication issues that we have seen since last year.

Anyhow, I'm not saying fire Harbs now. If we miss the playoffs with the talent we have this yr then yes. Like I mentioned we have change coordinators on both sides the only constant is him. I'm not even saying he's a bad coach we just may need a different direction.

Gonna be interesting, I know I can get irrational after a loss and I’ll even throw out things I know are somewhat reactionary just to gauge the overall sentiment and loft opinions I know will start accumulating out in the ether..But, I am so tired of dropping games to inferior opponents and I hate (but expect) that it happens every single year. It almost seems like Harbaugh’s strengths come through more when Lamar goes down, or maybe we’re just more enamored with games still being close without Lamar and with Huntley (or others). He always keeps games close and we rarely get blown out, I really love him and appreciate him but idk, these two losses in close succession have been so careless, we really have underperformed expectations with Lamar we cannot afford to squander this opportunity before us right now with a seemingly weaker division (but I bet It’s a close race).

If we miss the playoffs entirely he could be gone
he won't be fired. I think it's ridiculous firing Harbaugh gets brought up when he didn't lose us this game. He can't control our WRs hands. That was a pathetic display. Can you imagine how much we would have beaten the Steelers by if we only caught the ball yesterday. It's demoralizing.

My bills fan and I decided that this weekend didn't happen.

Continuously blowing leads is a systemic coaching issue. This team has no edge and you can see things spiraling out of control with no one to stop it, that’s coaching.

We lead by at least 10 points in 6 of our last 9 losses. Just unacceptable.

You mention Hollywood Brown like he was a bust or something .
Some people talk about Torrey that way too, it’s kind of crazy. Those guys actually produced and made plays. Bateman is all potential and no show.

I think the organization has to stop the Steelers hype like they’re the same Steelers of a decade ago, they’ve been absolutely trash and it’s embarrassing to talk about them like they’re juggernaut only to squander game after game to them. It’s out of control, I’m still in disgust over this, we don’t have refs to blame unlike the Colts game.

On paper 3-2 was a conservative projection on where we’d be to this point, but seeing what was there and how we squandered it is gross. These games matters so much, we are killing our selves

Should be 5-0
Not even a question
