Coaching Carousel 2024

Random question: when do teams typically start hiring their next coach? I recall teams being impatient and not hiring the Patriots staff since they were in the Super Bowl. However, I know that the league has changed the hiring process slightly.

Is making and winning the Super Bowl our only chance to keep both of our coordinators?
I think it's going to take a while with the current 8 openings. The process is slightly delayed now since many can't interview until the week of the 21st (divisional round).

I don't see Mike wanting any of those jobs unless he REALLY wants to be a HC
I could see Washington being a destination he wouldn't mind. First it's not far from here so it doesn't uproot his family. Second new ownership group, although that can be a negative, Josh Harris seems to be doing the right thing....at the moment. Plus they will be hiring a GM

Not sure what is going on with the GM and Owner in Tennessee though

depends how confident he is that he'll be as hotly wanted next year
how confident is he that this defence will continue to be awesome?

the risk is that the defence regresses and he becomes somewhat forgotten in the 2025 HC coaching cycle

i imagine if he gets offered a job, he'll take it, whether it's a good situation or not...

i also dont think the commanders is necessarily a terrible looking job either tbh - clearly a rebuild but you get to draft an elite QB prospect at number 2 with some decent weapons already in the building and the most cap space in the league - obviously the defence was a little depleted with the trade aways of young and sweat but there's some nice young pieces in-house on that defensive roster (including emmanuel forbes who the ravens apparently loved in the draft process but hasnt been good as a rookie) and a bunch of picks in the draft

panthers situation is ugly though - a mess, a messy owner, no picks, some cap space but not much - it's a project that requires at least a couple of years but the owner's shown no patience to let a staff re-build

My gut tells me that somebody, maybe Washington, maybe Seattle, will try to construct Ravens 2.0. That would mean hiring Weaver or Mcdonald for HC and trading for Justin Fields.

I believe there have been reports out of Washington that have said that. Not sure about Seattle though, I think Quinn could be in play there and it would make sense.

Still blows my mind they had fields as mvp favorite. Other than fantasy football, idk how anyone in the world thought that he was mvp caliber… i blame lamar and the hate people have for him lol

I just don't see Washington trading for Fields when they can take a young QB at the top of the draft and not worry about paying him for 5 years.

I still can’t believe the Bears kept their Head Coach. The top 6-7 candidates are all significant upgrades and they would be by far the best job available right now.

Even if the Eagles and Cowboys make a move you can still massively upgrade at coach.

feels so dangerous to give the coach who's fighting for his life the chance to shape the future of the franchise...

I don't see the defense regressing and that is mostly because we aren't healthy yet. We don't know what these guys are capable of with David O on the field. The few games he's played he has flashed.

Our defense is missing guys that get after the QB, Ojabo, Bowser, Oweh have all missed substantial time.

Always like Mayo as a player. Wish him success wherever he ends up... as long as it's not the AFCN or Titans. And no coach who wants a real shot is going to Carolina.
