The 2024 Offseason Thread

I am upset about the hate on Gus and hill, they are pretty above average backs in the league. They were the rbs for the #1 run offense and obviously that needs Lamar but Gus was a beast this year. If we’re not gonna use him in 2019, 2020 vs bills, or this last game, no point in having him tho I guess
I hope they bring Gus back. He and Mitchell compliment each other well.

MM is out. Good for him! He's earned it. Interested to see what we do.

Idk how you bring Monken back. Only way is if Lamar went rogue and Todd was calling run plays and Lamar said fuck it. For the record I don't think there's a chance that's reality.

John. I get it, but I think it's time for him to be a great coach for someone else. I think his time here is just done. Not in the NFL.

Monken is not going anywhere lol
It’s 1 game - yes it sucked but no one is getting fired for it

It's not one game though. Some people have it and others don't. That was one of the most egregious examples of not having it I've ever seen. What a ridiculously weak minded and spirited person. Crumbled literal hours before he had too.

We definitely should have ran the ball more, the most egregious example to me was prior to the half we had a 2nd and 4 at midfield and we ran two awful pass plays in a row (albeit Lamar had Nelson). It just made too much sense to run it there, we wanted to score and leave no time. That was a fireable offense. In the second half we moved the ball overall and it was the turnovers that killed us. And yea Lamar could have taken off more too but that’s not on Monken

Lamar is not free from blame. At all. But he was not set up to succeed before the game and was left to go be superman again during the game. And he was less superman than Mahomes. Because Mahomes only had to dink and dump for 2 drives and then sucked so unbelievably bad the rest of the game. And they still won because of just how bad we were.

Think you’re going a little extreme here my guy. Monken started off the season rough but pulled it together midway through and was one of the biggest reasons for our offensive success. Don’t let that last game cloud your judgement. No one was calling for his head in the 2 months leading up to that game.

I agree with all that. But none of that matters if you are going to act the way he did against the Chiefs. Winners have it. Losers don't. You win when you're team is full of winners. You lose when it's not. It's not overly complicated.

Given the other circumstances of the team and coaches, with Monken here next year you know what you are going to see. It's going to be an overall worse team on both sides of the ball. Less talent everywhere. The offense will be more frustrating than it was this year. Lamar will beat up on bad teams because that's what he does outside of one random bad game out of 17. We'll win half the tough games lose the other half. Make the playoffs as a team playing in wild card round. Lucky I'd we win that one, have probably no chance to advance farther.

You'll say that's grim but it's just the most likely thing. And if you're gonna have to rely on LJ to save you like always, it's unacceptable to have someone orchestrating him in a way that entirely mutes who he is when he gets scared.

I could not disagree with this more to be honest. You are clearly letting one game cloud your judgement. Yeah it sucked ass but if we focused on everyone’s worst game (from coaches down to the players) then we’d have literally no one to play or coach.
