The 2024 Offseason Thread

Nothing is being clouded. And this is not a generic worst day. Regardless, you certainly don't have to agree.
Dog you were giving the coaches flowers for their adjustments just a week and a half ago. It's clearly clouded judgment right now. And I get it. It sucks. But there's no world where Monken or really anyone should be losing jobs over that.

As annoyed as I've been with Monken regarding this, I feel like this is a great learning opportunity for both him AND Harbs. Let us fuck around and miss the playoffs or get eliminated in the playoffs next season because we failed to run the ball when we should've and we're definitely gonna revisit this discussion.

I'm sure hoping people on here are not calling for Monken to be fired. That f'n crazy. We had a 98 yd drive with a fumble in the end. We had a strip sack with Bateman apparantly wide open. Lamar underthrew a bad pick in the end zone. The oppurtunties to score were there. We also dont know how many times Lamar audibled out of a run play unless you all want him thrown under the bus we're not going to find out. It was strictly execution that failed us.

bateman's not going anywhere this year - probably wont get his 5th year option picked up but will be part of the WR group for 2024 100%
Ngl, i want him and odell stay.. bateman has some talent there, its just something missing imo. Odell, i like him more now that he is a vet

i think im ok moving on from odell - had a few weeks where he came on but started the season a bit limited and ended the season having been overtaken on the depth chart by both bate and nelly...
bateman's under contract and will be part of the offence - right now he's pencilled in as the other starter with zay...

agholor would be a guy id happily tap to see if he's willing to return for another year

I said it but just in jest. He should only improve, I want to see more timing routes and short game passing

JH showed he's not learning. It's not the first time he was a passive watcher in a similar situation.

I just don’t see OBJ coming back. He’s not worth $12mil.
OBJ coming back will almost entirely be about $. I don't think the Ravens would even consider bringing him back unless he was at least 50% or less of the cost of last year. I think if he said he'd come back for like $4-5M a year, we'd consider it. Other than that, there's no just way.

He spoke like a guy who really hasn't had any long term discussions with the franchise in a long time either.

They'll have Zay, Andrews, Likely and probably Bateman. Add in a veteran (maybe Agholor) and a draft pick or two. And that's what I think we'll roll with. Too many other positions will need attention to do what we did last year (i.e. add two veterans and a top draft pick).

Agholor is a much better bargain with similar skills. Offering OBJ $4-$5 mil would probably be an insult to him, and even if he accepted an offer like that he wouldn’t be happy. So I think he gone.

I like the group we have minus OBJ, and like you say, bringing back Agholor and adding a rookie is probably how we roll.

I agree and was happy with how Agholar performed this season.

Agholor is who I would want back between the two. I was actually surprised by him this year. He looked good and won’t cost anywhere near as much. Now if Odell signed a lot cheaper then sure but I think Aaron will want him with him.

Agholor all year looked like he could be used a lot more. He played really well. Someone will pay him more than Ravens can afford.

Although I wouldn't be surprised to see Bateman traded, there is no 'Or' to this question. Bateman is still very cheap as he is going into year four.
What would the return value be? If it’s a 4th I’m not sure it’s worth it.

This is so funny. I'm not clouded at all and am tbh pretty unemotional at the whole thing. One of my first posts was idek if I care anymore. And honestly the care is really not back yet. I just like you guys on here.

But to your point. Both are true. Monken wasn't scared of Houston and he adapted. That's great. He deserved all the praise in the world for that. But if you're singular goal is making and winning the superbowl, you can't have the guy who just acted the way he did vs KC at helm. He doesn't have the mentality to do handle it. Plenty of people have amazing careers but aren't fit to be the actual best of the best.

If on the other hand you're interested in putting out a good product and filling seats (that's the reality) Monken is great. He'll stay and that's really that.

I think the better retort is who are you gonna bring in instead? Or what kind of message does it send to fire this guy after 1 year and making a AFC game? All would be reasonable.

I'm more saying it's pretty clear to me we won't be winning the SB with this crew next year.

Or you know, he could learn from his mistakes. Just like every single NFL coach in the entire history of the league has an opportunity to do.

This is an absolutely foolish argument to be honest. You’re making an entire judgment of a man based off of one game (that also happens to be the most recent) and not his body of work. Maybe he doesn’t learn and he has to pay the price for that. But that is far from the current reality.
