End of the Bar Does Not Care, John Harbaugh

Most likely Monken wouldn't want to stay if Ben Johnson was hired and he would want to bring in his own people.

That’s entirely possible but with the offense humming the way that it is and the adaptability of Monken I could see him potentially staying.
Plus I wouldn’t think we would completely clean house if we brought someone else in.

Ben Johnson and keep Monken at OC until he gets hired away.

You living in La-La Land if you think Monken is staying on if Ben Johnson is hired and calling the plays.

Only way Monken stays on after a HC change is if that HC is a defensive HC.

Ben Johnson with Robert Saleh at DC would be my dream

Definitely living in La-La land since Harbs likely isn’t going anywhere in the first place and thus we aren’t bringing in an offensive minded HC to get the most value out of our generational talent at QB.
I’d be happy with just bringing in Ben Johnson and letting Monken walk but if I’m here voicing some dream scenario in the first place what’s it hurt to expand the dream?

Not sure how I feel about Saleh tbh. Would be very different than what we’ve historically done on defense. Is Tennessee cleaning house? Bring back Dennard lol

Are we sure about Saleh’s credentials? He was calling the most loaded defensive roster in the league, a team who invested high first round picks into the front four for many consecutive years. Their defensive identity was rush four and let elite LBs and solid secondary play coverage, nothing schematically or philosophically eye catching. That defense carried on just fine without him, and then he goes to NYJ who is also drafting high on defense, and their defense never quite put it together all that well despite their talent.

I am not convinced in the slightest that Saleh is some defensive mastermind.

Honestly, I thought the Jets defense was elite last year and 2022. They were making a lot of good QBs look mid against them. Their problem is that they were on the field a lot since their offense couldn't do shit. They were a playoff team if they had an okay offense. Look how much they fell apart since Saleh got fired.

I guess I should’ve done more research on the jets defense, didn’t know they were that good

Yeah they've been considered a top 5 defense for the last several years. Only issue was Zach Wilson now Aaron Rodgers not extending drives so they were on the field way more than they should've been. This year as well they started off pretty rough with some injuries and lost some of their depth they had from the previous couple years and it has been felt. Not to mention Reddick held out as long as he did, I'm pretty sure Saleh might've been fired before Reddick even made it to the field.

They are so good that even when suffering big losses they dominate.
the jets are such a consistent franchise. They consistently fire GMs and Coaches and I'm convinced then they finally find a winning formula, they will fire that coach and GM for the sake of consistency.

I like him as well but would prefer he has another year as DC in the NFL. I'd prefer Ben Johnson if we decided to move on from Harbaugh.
Yeah either Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn would be my top 2 choices to replace Harbaugh next year. Like I said, I think the Lions are the closest to what we do where we wouldn't have to change anything. Glenn could be someone who could shore up the defense but also bringing in Johnson means having a new age Head Coach who fits the current NFL.

I'd prefer a head coach, but we absolutely have to have someone who is a leader of men. If anything, that is the most important quality in a head coach.

Let's look at current openings and projected openings heading into December. At this point, it's looking to be too much competition out there if we were to move on from Harbaugh. I see us going the Jerry Jones route with Mike McCarthy where we stay the course for 2025 without a Super Bowl, let Harbaugh's contract run out then move on in 2026. Obviously if we win the Super Bowl which is still likely, Harbaugh will get a new 3-5 year deal. We could find a trade partner and I know Head Coach trades are rare but we definitely get a first round pick and multiple picks for Harbaugh, especially since Sean Payton who was retired got the Saints a first round pick from Denver.

Current HC Openings:
- Jets: This is a house cleaning as the Jets fired Joe Douglas as well as Robert Saleh. This all depends on what they do at QB, could move on from Rodgers to draft a young QB similar to how the Jets moved on from Favre to draft Mark Sanchez. Ben Johnson will likely be a favorite to land here.

- Saints: No matter what Head Coach they hire, the team is still stuck in cap hell and need to figure out how things from that perspective. Perhaps moving on from longtime GM Mickey Loomis and bringing in a new GM will straighten out their salary cap over the next few years.

- Bears: In over 100 years the Bears have been a Franchise, they finally fired a Head Coach in the middle of the season. Likely going to be an offensive minded coach who can work with Caleb. Honestly, Bears fans will want Ben Johnson but could very well see this being a landing spot for Todd Monkens as Head Coach. It just seems like a Bears move....

Possible Openings:
- Cowboys: Jerry Jones doesn't have to fire Mike McCarthy, he simply can let his contract expire and choose not to re-sign him. Barring an extension, this is will become open. Does Jerry try for a new young coordinator like Ben Johnson or does he try to bring Belichick to Dallas?

- Giants: I know Mara said Daboll and the GM were safe, but don't make the same mistake the Bears have made multiple times. Don't draft a new QB and saddle him with a lame duck head coach who ends up getting fired anyway.

- Jaguars: Things have gone south for Jacksonville since signing Trevor to that mega contract, it's possible the Khans move on from Pederson & look at Ben Johnson to finally find that potential generational pick Trevor was supposed to be.

- Patriots: Been hearing a lot about things not going so well for Mayo in his first year as Head Coach. Could see Kraft keeping him another year but again who knows.

Surprise Firings?
- Browns: To scapegoat Stefanski for Watson's injuries and play is such a Cleveland Browns thing to do. They could opt to fire General Manager Andrew Berry who made the trade for Watson while bringing in a new GM who will be ok with Stefanski but as we know, new GMs want their own guy so it could be a house cleaning if a new GM comes in and wants his guy.

- Buccaneers: Bucs started out 4-2, now find themselves 5-6. If the Bucs don't win the NFC South, Bowles will be on the hot seat and could be fired for the collapse after such a hot start including a win over the Lions. He might be given one more year, but it wouldn't surprise me if they moved on from him.

- Dolphins: Could be a sweep of openings in Florida if the Dolphins feel McDaniel hasn't done enough to warrant another year. Simply put, the way the team falls apart in the winter could signal changes coming. GM Will Grier might be on the hot seat as well as the team could look to the Detroit model and bring in a GM that will build the team in the same way, and bring in a coach who will toughen them up for the winter months.

Yeah let's hope we miss the playoffs so we can get Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn. Absolute pathetic coaching once again.

Harbaugh is getting an extension. I don't see how the Ravens move on from him anytime soon. We would have to implode this season for him to get fired.

So listen there may be a lot of competition but let’s not kid ourselves

If we fired Harbaugh we would be the number one choice of any aspiring head coach. You have an elite franchise QB. It’s kinda hard to mess it up.

I wouldn't mind seeing Monken get promoted to HC or at least get consideration.

Harbaugh made sure to get a clip of him slurping up Lamar on Hard Knocks. Best way to not get fired is being buddy buddy with the star QB.
