2025 NFL Draft General Discussion

SEC championship

Wasn’t playing assignments well at all, taking the eye candy and them going right over his head, poor angles to the catch point. He got shitted on.

got beat in man on one play
got caught with greedy eyes and was too late to trigger two others (something that definitely shows up in other tapes of his)
great read with good click and close on a 3rd down stop

even so the general play intelligence, fluidity and versatility stand out

still don't want him at 27

That’s a lot of poor and highly impactful plays in one game for a guy being talked about as a guy we want to play deep. And in a playoff game at that

I just had a thought - when was the last time every team still had their original first round pick this late in the day?
in fact, when was the last time every team had a 1st round pick in the draft at all?

am i crazy that that seems wild?

It’s been a long time I wish I could remember the date but I remember seeing that posted somewhere as a factoid a few months back

From what I heard we never had 32 teams picking in the first round. You have to go to before the Texans existed.

That's a horrid number but the tape shows speed isn't his game at least. Extremely limited at the next level though. Felt like he was borderline undrafted guy already and this might send him over the edge. Would still guess he'll get a shot in camp and probably carve out some semblance of a career because the guy is a football player at least.

i had him as draftable
probably would think of him more as a priority udfa now

the 10 yard split, when we get it, will be big to hopefully salvage this time for him because that 40 is atrocious

I feel very strongly that the draft could and should be about 2 weeks earlier. Feels like they drag it out as long as possible to get all the media content and buzz they can possibly squeeze out of it.

Would probably be nice for the players too, to get drafted, check in with the team, and then get a 2 week break before getting to the nfl grind. Rookies go through a meat grinder between college and the end of their rookie season

in actuality what they should probably do with the expanded college playoffs is shift everything else back a week (or 2) but keep the actual draft where it is in the schedule

What happens in the last 2 weeks before the draft that justifies that? Rumors and talk, nothing of substance, pro days are done by then, maybe some team visits? Not much else.

that's my point - move the whole process back and leave where the draft it is
gives more space after the end of the college season (might have fewer kids skipping all star games or more kids testing at the combine)

and by moving it all back then the draft industry circus starts later and we still lose the same 2 weeks you want to get rid of (we just got rid of them at the beginning rather than the end)

but the whole process is definitely too long

im personally basically ready now other than some tinkering and watching some guys whose names come up as being worth a watch - but im up to 181 guys watched right now

Well yeah it’s my own selfish reasons for wanting it 2 weeks earlier, I’m just tired of waiting every year lol

I think want to work on a mock draft but was wondering if Jihad Campbell fell in the first round of the draft and is available by the time the ravens are on the clock and a team such as the Bills call them up and willing to give up their 1st and one of their 2nd round picks to trade up for him out of fear for a team like the commanders drafting him would it be a realistic trade for the ravens to take ?

all elements of that are unrealistic lol

1) jihaad campbell shouldn't still be available - if he is, we're not trading out of that pick, we're picking him
2) the value the bills should be giving up to move up those 3 spots is probably a mid-4th round pick, if they're desperate for the player, you might get an early 4th or late 3rd rounder - a 2nd rounder would be absolute daylight robbery

We pick an off ball LB in the first one year after extending Roquan I’m flipping a fucking table

That's understandable. Im looking at from the perspective of the bills being in desperate mode if he( Campbell ) is available by the time the ravens are still on the clock . Matt Milano hasn't been healthy for the past two years and the bills possibly may want to move on after the 2025 season. If they really felt like Campbell could potentially transform their defense then I could see them given up a second round pick to the ravens especially if they felt like it would take more for the ravens to move a way.from their spot . it's understandable if thats not realistic though
