Free Agency 2019

For anyone not following, McCoy's visit to Baltimore was described in glowing terms, and the talk is that both sides were very impressed. He even met with Bisciotti and Ngata during his stay. However, he's taking his trip to the Panthers today and tomorrow, and the rumour is that he will decide between three teams (Baltimore, Carolina, Cleveland) afterwards.

McCoy isn’t about keeping guys fresh, we have a rotation already, but what we lack is interior pass rush, Henry May or may not bring that, but we can’t depend on him to suit up, and other than that we don’t have pass rushing DTs, Michael Pierce should honestly be a pro bowler, but McCoy would be the best DL on this team by far just because he can make so many more splash plays than anyone and is well rounded to never need to rotate other than for fatigue

How many "splash" plays did he have vs our "horrible" line last season? Sacks happen more often vs a QB like Jackson. By this boards standards Skura sucks balls but again how well did McCoy do against him? Now could McCoy help this team of course he can but I'm not really worried about this signing.

I'd also like to add that we have some real good young talent here. Who's to say Willis and company cant produce the same amount of sacks this season without McCoy? All this is hypothetical, players get hurt everyday B.

Okay thats right.. the 8-8 season is when we played nfc north i believe and jimmy smith played very well
And Ray Rice and our O line played like they they didn’t want to play football anymore. lol I really think Ray Ray retiring is what ruined RR. He was like a daddy to him.

Birk retired, Boldin left, Pitta fractured his hip, etc., etc. etc......... Don’t think 2013 could have gone much worse for the Ravens offense. Amazing they even won a game.

Ray Rice injury I think we the key piece that slowed the season down. Given all the departures etc etc

McCoy here with Willis under him....man....

Makes me wonder how the front office really feels about B-Williams right now and Pierce/Henry

The FO wont say it but they wish they could take back that brandon williams decision.

No one could have guessed that BWill would have such a decline but after the other guys started out performing him I thought the best idea was for us to trade him to the cowboys for one of their Olinemen. Now that he is on the downside tho I'm not sure we'll get anything for him.

Cmon Ravens you gotta know when to sell high. Smh.

would be lucky to fetch a 7th rounder.

I wouldn't even say his play has dropped that much. Many here said it didn't make sense to re-sign him due to position, role and the fact we still had Pierce. If there was ever a position we didn't need to give money to, it's a run stuffing NT in todays league. Pierce was more versatile, younger and cheaper. Then, there's the fact that's one of the few positions the team can draft with success. I know that off season I said left both Wagner and Williams walk. Whatever, I'm pretty sure we can save a boatload of money cutting/trading him next year, which all add to an already high projected cap space total.

One game. You’re basing your opinion on one game for a likely HOF DT who had 6 sacks from the interior last year on a team with no secondary to force the qb to hold the ball. 6 sacks from the interior is only 2 sacks less than the leading sack producer from our #1 defense last year, and that guy was an edge rusher who was heavily schemed into sacks. 6 sacks from a DT is significant and no DT on this team is going to even sniff that number unless Henry finally stays healthy and overachieves for a year.

If we don’t get him then I don’t think the team falls apart, our defense will be fine without him, but interior pass rush that doesn’t require heavy stunting and blitzing(which takes away from our edge rush and short coverage) has been quite a weakness on this team really since ngatas heyday, McCoy would allow much more natural pressure off the edge and allow more coverage in the short range because he generates a level of pressure by himself that no DT on this team can come close to. Him not sacking lamar last year doesn’t change that.
