The Well-Mannered Politics Thread

Did anyone see Dave Chappelles new standup? that shit was funny, brutally honest and required. Ive had time to watch a lot of coverage from both sides about him and honestly it just shows how out of touch some outlets are, if rotten tomatoes has him at 0% for critic scores and 99% for audience scores then that tells you everybody left and right felt like they need that shakeup. Everyone is tired of bullshit in politics and tired of PC politics.

I have not been able to sit down and give it sometime. I love Dave, can't wait to see it.

yes lol - it goes into how the meteorologist world has completely condemned this new statement by the NOAA
It's always amazed me how people don't actually read an article and base their entire opinion off of a title.

I don't want to open a can of worms, but there was an anti vax article recently that made some false claims about vaccine testing. Basically, an agency wasn't sending out reports like it was supposed to, but never once was it proven that testing wasn't done by this agency, nor is this agency the only one that actually does vaccine testing. Basically, the people filing the suit said, "If they did the testing, why not send the reports?" and that was the proof that they didn't do any testing. Like I said, zero proof. But all the anti vax people I know (which thankfully isn't many) are using this title as their Bible against vaccines without actually reading the article.

People, read what you're citing.

As I've always said about critics if they say a movie is bad its usually good. Just shows you what the everyday man thinks. The critics are getting on Chappelle for being real and...…………….funny.

Oh btw talking about funny looks like you really should apologize

I live in South Florida. This is completely misleading, all over a small mistake. At no point was any of West Florida in danger to get hit.

My opinion on this whole Alabama thing...

I personally find it curious NOAA took so long to respond to the tweet if it was something worth bringing attention to. They aren't completely wrong as there was a nonzero but very small chance that parts of Alabama on the extreme southeast side might have just gotten some TS winds. But you would think that type of information should be communicated quickly if NOAA had such an issue with the tweet, not wait until after the hurricane is already past. One last thing, this basically disqualifies any theories that NOAA is politically motivated against the right.

As for Trump, he is getting a lot of grief for how he has handled this whole thing and with good reason. This thread just about sums up my opinions on the sharpie thing(scroll up for the first two tweets).

As for Dorian, while Hatteras did get the eye, they should be alright and it looks like the U.S. as a whole mainly got spared. Great Abaco Island and Grand Bahama got hit really bad though and honestly I wish that is where the attention is with this stuff. Damage is worse than Michael last year and the 2017 storms. Worst I have seen looking at the pictures since Haiyan in 2013(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Haiyan). Some storms got close with the winds(Irma, Maria, Yutu, Winston to name a few) but this had a large storm surge as well and was much slower moving, especially on Grand Bahama. Couldn't be too low because the surge but if you were above that you still had the winds to worry about. Going to be a long recovery for the islands.

did you even read the article?
There's more than the title?!

I read the article gentleman. The NOAA is the parent company of the NWS and you guys have used their statements on climate change and now you mock them. I also know NPR is very left wing. That's why I used them. Guess what. The meteorologists were wrong

The first models when they came out said it was slamming into the south part of Fla close to where you live and you didnt know this? Wow!!! This was before it hit the Bahamas. The article showed you. Did you not look at the graphs? Chrissakes!!

The cone of uncertainty was never in the direction of Alabama. I know this because my company kept an eye out on this storm and let us know step by step to make sure we were ready to protect the assets of the company. Besides Trumps track, nobody else had it going that far.

Its super weird how big of a deal he and some of his supporters are making of this. He made a mistake, no big deal, unless of course you make it a big deal.

We knew by Thursday this thing was shifting NW.

The NOAA said he DID NOT make a mistake. You telling me they're wrong. It was also around Sunday where Fla was starting to skirt the storm. They did call for it to be going north a little earlier but they were still saying it was gonna hit quite a bit of Fla but as days past it kept shifting. By Sunday I remember believing the storm was going further north but Trump was going on what he was told and really the news should be on the cautious side.

When it comes to a big deal...……………..who brought it up?? lol

Edit: I get my weather from the weather channel and I still thought a CAT 3 was hitting Fla and then working up the coast on Monday. About halfway down.

Just to make sure we are on the same page here. You are going to tell me when the storm hit or affected us? Google it, I work just outside of Fort Lauderdale. We did not feel anything until Monday. I spent the better half of Saturday and Sunday putting away vehicles.

What I am telling you is that Trump making an incorrect statement (no big deal) and then NOAA backing him up 5 days later (that is weird) is super weird. They are making it a big deal rather than Trump just simply saying he made alittle mistake.

I made my post on Monday. What day did you get hit again? You just said. Right?? Good lord. Trump said this on sunday. Its not only Trump making a big deal. He got razzed and his integrity questioned pretty damn good. Why should Trump say he made a mistake when he was going on information given to him?

I agree tho its way overblown.

Where is he getting that info? It's the graph they have that made me laugh and not the mistake. Mistakes happen, would have been nice if he just said that. He should know better than anyone else that people can and will kill him for everything. Drawing this out makes no sense to me.

They actually had impeachment hearings.......... LMAO. When the democrats don't even have faith in their own candidates to beat Trump and have to resort to another pointless fraud hearing to try to remove him before next year. Sorry but all I know is the Democrats have shown me that they rely on terrible candidates and have no legit candidates, and Corey Lewandowski said it best. Dems hate this President more than they love their country.

Corey didn't give in at all and the Dems are now frustrated as they keep trying to find anything to get rid of Trump before next year.
