The Refs, the OL, and the Coaching

The thing I don't get is why wasn't our plan to use Ricard as an extra blocker to help out our o-line early in the season. He only played 23% of snaps week 1 and I assume he played about the same this week, but last season with our established o-line we were using him for roughly 40% of offensive snaps
I’ll go the opposite side and say it’s time to move on from Ricard after the season and he probably should be playing less as we go forward. He’s a big body but his usage telegraphs exactly what we’re going to do

I have a real question and I'm not trolling!

How do you have an entire team meltdown like that?

The offense penalized itself and went 3 and out twice when it literally only needed 1 first down.

But then the defense gave up 2 4th quarter TDs. On drives where they had multiple sacks. They also penalized themselves.

Then special teams was atrocious too. Missed FGs, 24 yard punt, taking a KR to the 15 yard line.
Also having a penalty on the 24 yard punt which made it 19 yards.

How can you have a collapse of that magnitude. It was all 3 phases of the game. And this was against a bottom 3rd team while we were at home AND coming off a loss.

EDIT

And the coaching? Early in the game there was no effort to double Crosby from Monken.

Late in the game there was no help for Stephens on Adams.

Harbs wasted 2 TOs on brain dead challenges.
Defense did their job at the end of the day. they stopped the raiders but couldn’t stop the refs,

Does it telegraph anything though? Last year we used him on both running and passing plays so it shouldn't hint what we are planning to do. Also this o-line has shown that they can't block worth a damn without help so let's give them help by keeping Ricard in to block

The usage so far and the offensive system we're seemingly trying to run this year... yes. There's still time to figure it out and build in more disguise, but when Ricard is on, it's generally been a run in the 1st two games.

He's a Charger in '25.

Okay, but I'm criticizing his usage through 2 weeks and how we aren't using him as a blocker more to assist our o-line that has struggled through two weeks. I think that if we use him as a blocker for atleast long developing pass plays we can create a somewhat more efficient offense
