The Offseason Thread

Passing game coordinator unfortunately that's pretty near a playbook. Marty was our QB coach in 2015 and Joe's footwork and mechanics regressed after one season with Kubiak and Dennison.
Urban was brought in for a reason and we can't really demote him.

he was always gonna be near the playbook and the gameplan as all positional coaches and offensive assistants are - the difference is he's not calling plays

and with regards to being a passing game coordinator - to me that's a more game-plan/concept-based role where his entire job is basically route combinations and building around lamar's arm - which given the fact that he wont be able to avoid calling passing plays because he's not calling plays at all i think might work

Harbs did not make the decision to promote Greg Roman. I laughed out loud when I read that. Idk why we're dragging our feet here. Harbs is out of here in 1 or 2 years if it wasnt for Lamar and we kept Harbs still with Joe I would have retired as a fan until otherwise.

So he won't design our playbook? I didn't like his scheme and concepts at all. for example throwing short off the sticks on 3rd down, even though our receiver weren't yac specialists. Another one: 2 receivers don't run a route (Allen and Crabtree both aren't known for their after catch abilities) and the 3 others are right into coverage. Remember pre-snap motions didn't exist in last years playbook. He didn't design plays to the strengths of our receivers.

this what i think... we have a qb that could possibly end up like russ wilson but instead he gonna end up like cam newton..

Marty must've gone behind Harbs's back and asked Steve for a promotion to head coach. Steve tells Harbaugh to get control of his team immediately, who then confronts Marty about lying and threatens to fire him.

Marty offers to do his laundry for a year, and Harbaugh gives him a chance to stay in the organization.

Don't you fucking compare a national treasure like dwight to Marty.

It would be an absolute tragedy if the @Ravens parted ways with Marty Mornhinweg. Lookit... I agree with the choice to promote Greg Roman to #Ravens OC, but we simply cannot afford to lose press conferences with Marty. It would undoubtedly take an emotional toll on #RavensFlock

lmao, they were very funny

talk about going off on a tangent and forgetting what the question was

Why are they saying "Harbaugh promoted Roman / demoted Marty" when it's so obvious it was DeCosta's first decision?

Zrebiec's perspective: "No. Harbaugh, as an 11-year head coach and a Super Bowl-winning HC, isn't going to be told what he has to do in regards to his coaching staff. I imagine he talked it over with Bisciotti, Eric and Ozzie. But if he wasn't comfortable with it, he wouldn't do it."

another suggestion by zrebiec with regards to the coaching situation:

[Marty] Could be QB coach, and they could move Urban to a passing game coordinator role or something like that. We'll see. Just because he's been offered to stay and he's under contract doesn't mean he will want to.

a lot of people on twitter asking about Urban taking Engram's job as WR coach and while that would be a massive upgrade I dont think Urban takes on that job given the likely reasons he took on our qb coach role (career advancement)

I’m sure Marty and Urban were working with Lamar, but I’d rather have Urban in the same role as chief qb coach. I’m hoping he turns down the demotion.

Make him press conference coordinator

That's bullshit. He only saw after 2 full seasons that Marty isn't good option? And only did it when new GM officially started?
