holy shit - depending on what the dolphins do next year, andy dalton might be the worst qb we play

all these bad teams we have on the schedule all have 1st round qbs developing:

Browns, Jets, Bills, Cardinals, 49ers will have jimmy g back, Rams have Goff, Seahawks have Wilson, KC have Mahomes, Pats have Brady, Steelers have Big Ben, Texans have Watson...

literally just leaves Dalton and whoever the Dolphins have under centre...

by the end of year 2, lamar will have played against all his fellow 1st round qbs (kind of inevitable i suppose when 4 ended up in the AFC in 2 divisions)

Tavon Austin brings very little value as a receiver, he's now primarily a return specialist

i agree he’s primarily used as a returner but i disagree about him bringing little value as a receiver. he doesn’t have drop problems and he can run routes and i guarantee he can get separation better than anyone we have now

Eric Weddle said he will sit down and speak with Eric DeCosta. Said he’d like to finish out last year of deal w/Ravens, but if Ravens don’t want him back, he will retire and “ride off into sunset.”

it's cool he feels that strongly about this place - just like SSS it's cool that these guys come here and feel like they've come home despite spending most of their time in different organisations

John Brown, who is a free agent, said he’d love to be back with Ravens. Called it most fun year he’s ever had. Acknowledged it won’t be all about money, but said he likely won’t be accepting 1-year deal this offseason.

Robert Griffin III: “id love to be back. I feel like I have a good grasp of what this team is trying to do.”

we've got a nice culture here

Thing is, I think Weddle will have to take a pay cut to stay, he has a $8.2M cap hit according to Spotrac and I think that's the only way he stays. I would love to have him back so I'm happy that he wants to come back as well. Brown will probably get a higher contract than what we are willing to pay him from some other team and RG3 is most likely our backup going forward.

Alright well, since it’s almost been 24 hours since we’ve been eliminated, I can think more clearly now. I expect us to be extremely aggressive this offseason on both sides of the ball. Please make the necessary cap cuts to sign Clowney and trade for another Boldin-esque type of WR for Lamar to grow with. We can’t fuck with him like we did Flacco and only get veteran bandaids. We need superstars on both sides of the ball like nobody’s business. SURROUND YOUR FRANCHISE QB WITH TALENT AND PROTECT HIM, ERIC.

right after the SB was probably a much harder offseason, plus we didn't have the cap space. This year atleast we have sufficient cap space.
Releasing Brandon Williams doesn't make sense until the end of next season as it isn't a savings at all. TJ we could save cash but again he's fine in the run game, just use him at his strength ONLY.
The 50m contract for Mosley isn't going to look like much once the new CBA comes into play and from what I've heard, Mosley only wants a two year contract to bring him to the end of the CBA. I'd be all for that if he truly was ok with a two year contract.

I'm going to be interested to see how many other free agents take that route as well. I'm sure the NFLPA would be telling players to only sign through the end of the CBA and their agents are in their ears about it as well. If Mosley wants a 2 year deal, then we can give him something like a 2 year $28M? Makes him one of the highest paid based on the average salary per Spotrac for a Linebacker.

Easily see RG3 being brought back if he's not offered something crazy by another team. On the fence about Brown, only because of prior injury history. I think we have to keep Snead and give Moore an extension. No idea what this wr class looks like in either FA or draft.
Moore is still under contract for one more season.

Right now the only WR the Ravens could sign who would help Lamar is Mr Fantastic so that his overthrows could be caught.

On a serious note, interior OLine is a huge need. If Weddle takes a pay cut he can come back but they need a FS. If they move on from Jimmy they probably want another corner (I don't like 80-20 rule with corners, OLine or QBs). DLine was great but OLBs were meh. Maybe sign someone to put next to Judon. Resign Mosley and boom good to go. Also hope and pray that Lamar learns to throw outside the numbers so they don't go 2 hours without a completion.

Also DO NOT SIGN CLOWNEY. He is about to get WAY overpaid.

Texans won't allow Clowney to get away anyway.

And he could very well be worth every penny. But I'm curious to see how he performs after the payday. He's coming off of his best season in a contract year and there have been questions about his motivation.

I would say its less motivation and more JJ Watt looks like JJ Watt again and he is the player who carries that defense.

Okay, why the fuck hasn’t Marty been fired yet? You have analysts on TV talking about how bad he is. Are we waiting for the State of the Ravens press conference? This should have been news at dawn this morning.

It doesn't really matter when it happens. If it does, we all know Roman will take over.
If it doesn't - our season is over before it started.

There's reason for optimism. But there's a lot to work on.

Since we aren't going to fire Harbs and Marty.....

1. James Hurst and Matt Skura CANNOT. BE. STARTERS. ON. THIS. TEAM. If your goal is to get the young buck killed, this is how you do it! Go get a real LG and C. They don't have to be elite, they don't have to be superstars. Just get some real options.
2. Pass rush needs to improve. Suggs is gone, Smith is overrated, and also gone, and Bowser is a classic case of us fitting a square peg into a round hole, and as much as I like Tim Williams he is injury prone. Massive position of need. We need to get at least two pass rushers this season
3. Weddle is old and gone. Please hire him as a coach. The safety market will be bustling, we need a FS so we can allow Jefferson to be in the box all the time.
4. We need to slowly but surely start adding playmakers on the offense... If Lamar is not the answer in five years time it's not a bad idea anyways. Build the foundation, see if we have the brain.
5. Jimmy Smith is likely gone due to high salary. It's going to suck to see him leave but we need to find another CB to replace him.

Lot of work to do.... But it's doable.
Really thinking if we could move jimmy to safety... might work tbh he would excel there and take away one of the safety needs while still providing depth at corner if emergency

He just hasn’t really developed anyone, I mean Chris Moore has come through at times but that’s been a really long project with not too big of an outcome.

In a perfect world of course, I wouldn’t mind us taking two first round picks for Harbs (if truly possible). Promote Roman to HC, Fire Marty and Engram, keep Wink and everyone else. And go after the positions I listed above through FA and the draft. We’ll have more cap space to play with this year and those possible Harbs picks would be great, plenty of opportunity and do-able to upgrade at those positions. Also we have new blood and a fresh mind at GM now
Would definitely put wink at HC over Roman if we got rid of harbs and wanted to go inhouse, thats a longshot though
