Yup. If we need to make room in salary cap, Weddle (he's done anyway) and Carr are gone, we keep Jimmy Smith.
l think we need to keep Carr. He’s been tremendously valuable to us the past couple yrs. I feel we can keep all of them together this year. Don’t think we will need to create additional space this year. Weddle we can save a good amount of cap.

He was good but we have some good young guys that need to play.

What would you guys think of Malik Jackson? He is likely getting cut as the Jags can save $11M by cutting him and he is only 29. He was really good in Denver in a 3-4 and think bringing him here would drastically improve our defensive line.

I think we need to keep the full cb corps together. Carr appeared to be better than jimmy for the most part this year(although I would never confuse Carr for a better cb than jimmy).

I think weddles time has come, and Jefferson is a liability and we don’t have a FS on the roster that can allow him to play his very limited game. I want to see us go after lamarcus joyner hard, and then see who wins the other spot between Clark and Elliott, keeping our cb corps together with those moves should be a big net upgrade.

After that, in FA we need to get a pass rusher whether inside or out, and pick up a quality interior OL.

In the draft we need to trade back and attack the same spots, day 1 and 2 needs to have more than 3 picks, right now we’re projected to have 2 barring a round 3 comp for Jensen, so getting good return on joe and a trade back for a 2 or 3 is crucial. Going from 2-3 picks day 1 and 2 to 4-5 after joe and a trade back would be huge. The only way I don’t want a trade back is if a jachai polite falls to us, to me he’s too big of a talent to pass on, he’s a liability against the run but his ability to get after the qb may be the top in this class. Otherwise you got biadasz, Risner, Ford, in the first, Jenkins and Bradbury in the 2nd, and Derwin gray in the third, that’s all I got off the top of my head, all powerful nasty interior blockers, all most likely day 1 starters and massive upgrades at LG, with biadasz, Jenkins, and Bradbury being career centers who should step right in for skura and transform our whole OL. With multiple picks in day 2 we can grab 2 of these guys and our OL takes a major step forward.

I don’t like this wr class at all tbh, draft or FA. I would like a RB but I’d rather take OL.

I worry about letting Weddle go without a plan. Even though his physical skills have degraded he's been the QB back there and a big reason our DBs have succeeded. Jimmy's cap hit this year is almost $16 mil. and it seems the $9.5 mil. in savings will be too tempting to pass up, thinking he's gone.
Not addressing the middle of the O line last off season killed this season, hopefully they learned the lesson.

Carr is going nowhere. As for Weddle it may mean taking a pay cut to stay (for the leadership qualities) and Jimmy will stay depending on how healthy the team believes he is and probably with a restructure to his contract. Mosley will stay a Raven.

Any discussion of another team coming after Harbaugh offering picks seems dead in the water and was just a bunch of insider chatter to have something more to talk about. Ian Rappaport "The #Ravens are making sure coach John Harbaugh doesn't go anywhere, as talks for a long-term extension progress."

I don't think we'd be this deep into negotiations and then pull the carpet out. Just waiting to see what "long-term" means ... then waiting to see if John is just tickled pink with his current staff.

So, with DeCosta set to meet with Weddle today to determine if he's coming back next year, what do you guys think is going to happen? I'm kinda torn because even though his physical abilities are on a rapid decline, he still offers a ton of leadership. I wonder if he's worth bringing back with the caveat that he's no longer a starter, but he'll be able to come off the bench and also mentor the young safeties on the team (mainly Elliott and Clark).

The dream scenario would be for DeCosta to say that he's done and immediately offer him a coaching position with the secondary, but I don't know how realistic that is....

Thoughts on Peanut and if we extend him.., really has come on the past few weeks and is pretty solid in coverage, in assuming we 2-3rd tender him
He is still a restricted free agent. We will most likely give him a 2nd round tender or original round which will give us the opportunity to match, there is no 3rd round tender.

No question he needs to stay. He definitely surprised more than a few and imo was the most improved Raven. It’s between him and Humphrey.

he's been better than Orr this year - the difference is that we had a year of him starting before where he wasn't at this level so it felt different - Orr being a 1 year only starter made us feel better about him but I think Peanut's been playing recently at a higher level than Orr ever did - which is not something I would have suspected at the beginning of the year (or even during preseason when Kenny Young was on fire)

Never thought I was gonna change my mind on peanut but I did. He needs a tender.

I like us as a 4-3 with mosley young and peanut, all ideal fits with their speed and range, along with interchangeable rush specialists to run over and unders
