who also said today that sizzle was likely gone too lol

They've been saying this since the bye week I think.

Joyner is my guy, I always saw mathieu as more of a dimebacker/nickel, like a super high end third safety you use like a Swiss Army knife/.. he’s not who I’d want most for us

I would cream if we could get joyner for like 5-8 a year for 3-4 years

You all are really that high on Joyner?

I’m pretty high on Joyner because I think he’s a good fit for a few reasons, I think he’s heady enough and has good enough range, definitely an upgrade over weddle, and shouldn’t come with too steep a price tag. I like HHCD better as a player but I think he’s gonna get top dollar

if you were to add michael pierce and marlon humphrey to that list our defence wouldnt function at all
Don't see those guys going anywhere anytime soon thankfully. Thankfully it is a very deep FA safety class so there is a good chance we sign someone there. I can dream of Earl Thomas with our corners

lol saw pft report we’d make a strong push for tyran mathieu then saw their source was JLC. FFS when will they learn he makes all of his shit up.

So Daniel Jeremiah has mentioned a few times that he thinks we should build a track team around Lamar on offence and the idea is really growing on me a lot
and he has Parris Campbell mocked to us in the 1st.

That being said, I can see us going either tall WR or quick WR. Not sure I'd want Hollywood in the first though, but in his mock he goes to Cleveland to reunite with Baker.

It's weird, but with Lamar, I feel like we actually have a bevy of options. A track team with playmakers would open up lanes for Lamar to be a playmaker. Big, physical players with a large catch radius can help hide some of Lamar's accuracy issue. Quick slot guys with good hands fit right into his wheelhouse of throwing over the middle.

There are a wide range of options on how this offense can be built, and I'm really curious to see which direction they go.

I'm definitely one that's of the belief that a true 3 down RB can open this offense up like nothing else. Of course, that's predicated on us improving the OL. It might be a 2 year retool but I'd certainly accept that as long as it's part of a longer vision.

Was thinking this a few weeks back. I'd prefer the speed option with 1 bigger wr since already have our TEs, but wouldn't mind either way. Just hope they actually are building with a goal in mind instead of just throwing pieces together and hoping they fit. The last time that seemed to happen was 2011 and was only kept together for 2 years.

I think samuel fit us better than campbell. It also helps that he's a member of this board also. Just wish he would play the forum mock @Deebo813

I'm reading some disturbing shit about the Browns... Those fuckers might be making a big move.

CJ will be back. I have little doubts... Idgaf. He's not one dimmensional... He's the QB of a defense and we need his brain.

Weddle will be replaced thanks to greater cap room.....

I will not freak out or claim rebuild until FA begins. I've seen this movie before, not just with us, but with other teams

Yeah as long as the plan is cohesive in a particular direction I don’t mind

The reason the track team method feels to me like the way we should go is because of how emphasised big plays in the passing game are going to be in this offence - with a focus on the running game and getting big chunks and the way speed kills in the nfl currently it seems like speedy guys would be a good strategy

To me it does not make sense to release Weddle. However, if it means freeing up more money to sign Mosley then I would understand.

So the weddle news I think is significant for a couple of reasons - I think the timing is interesting

Given how crucial weddle and sizzle and Mosley are to the defence from a play calling standpoint I don’t see how all 3 are out of the building because no matter who we replace them with they won’t know the scheme the way we need them too and there’s no one on our defence who can call our defence which since wink rebuilt it hinges on players making calls and being able to adjust

So weddle being released now makes me think the team is fairly confident cj is coming back because otherwise our defensive playcaller is peanut or TJ - and especially after the bengals game when cj went out there’s no way the organisation trusts anyone but cj or weddle to call the defence
Yeah, if you think back to the state of the secondary in between Ed and Eric you see really dark times where they were scattered and lost. No matter how physically inadequate either of those guys were they were invaluable to coordinating the D backs. Maybe there’s a plan but if they don’t have a viable replacement it could be disastrous.

Theres a lot of track options at WR after watching the combine. But Hardman and Campbell catch my eye the most. The threat they bring on jet sweeps opens up a whole new game for Lamar

It's a possibility, but drafting for a profile can get you in a pretty bad spot. I'm not against having big play threat and YAC specialist like Campbell on this team though that's for sure.
