The Lamar, the Receivers, and the Pass Defence

seen a lot more of humphrey in the slot this year which does remove some of the flexibility you love for Kyle
Yep. We have 2 good CBs in Humphrey and Stephens, and 1 that has flashes in Wiggins. I'm all for getting Wiggins playing time, but it feels like their insistence to play him a ton over the last couple of weeks has limited what roles other guys are able to play.

Its really nauseating though. They wanted the Commies to win so badly they didnt even hide it during the broadcast.

Since I get to see some Commander fans in a few hours , i really glad we won because all they did was proclaim how
they were going to beat us last week.
I have a friend, long time skins fan, that was talking smack yesterday before the game. I sent him this last night. lol

When getting ready for this season I think 95% of the pundits making Super Bowl picks had Texans, Ravens, Bengals, or Chiefs from AFC and Packers, Lions, 49ers, and rarely Eagles from NFC. Almost all of them had 4 of those teams in their conference championship games as well.

When I saw Jets stories it was always “Can Rodgers lead the Jets back to the playoffs” with the same being true of the Dolphins and Chargers. With the Cowboys and Bills it was always “how big of a step back will these teams take after a disastrous offseason”.

Now they can run one of those “can they make the playoffs” stories on the Commanders and it’s exciting because it’s new TV.

oh i saw a number of jets superbowl takes lol

eddie jackson played more snaps than the 3rd and 4th CBs in this game but feels like that was probably mostly because Wiggins went out for a drive or 2

i think arthur maulet coming back into the team may have an unexpectedly large impact

I honestly think without any injuries (knock on wood) this offense has what it takes to go all the way. Which is the first time I've probably said it since Boldin, Torrey, Jacoby, Pitta. It sucks because on one hand I don't want a new guy like Hopkins to come in and ruin the chemistry these young guys are having with Lamar (like Bateman). But I'm also worried that all it takes is one tweak, one injury and it can prove to be fragile come playoff time. I don't know if there is a right answer, but I also think if someone comes they have to be a backup like OBJ was.

2 years ago I saw some but between ESPN, Fox, USA, NFL.com, yahoo sports, and a few others I use for betting information, I think only Greenberg from ESPN picked the Jets to matter (and he does it literally every year because he is a massive Jets fan).

Nobody was reporting on anything involving the Commanders because they were thought to be a bad team hoping to win 6-7 games.

Relatedly if these takes are coming from Twitter, including the "Jayden outplayed Lamar" takes then I tend to not see them because Twitter is a cesspool for bad takes. There are takes on Twitter that Darnold is the best QB in football or that Brock Purdy isnt a top 20 QB. You can find any bad opinion on Twitter so I stick to dealing with people who actually are expected to have a bare minimum of competency.

Harbs at his presser talking about the defensive issues and i think he's right

most of the big completions yesterday were on over routes working through zones where we had some issues that just needed to be played better

and if you can eliminate those plays then the defensive performance looked a whole lot better

Finally seen the Jayden outplayed Lamar take lol

honestly i feel like @OURavensFan with how much this shit is getting to me today lol
It’s so bad on x, ppl acting like he makes throws Lamar can’t make or that Lamar had wide open ppl all day. The idea that Lamar can’t pass or read a defense immediately should disqualify anyone as a serious person worth engaging with.

It's shit like that that has made me somewhat disillusioned.
It’s why Lamar needs to win a Super Bowl so we can finally have nothing left for these morons to say. Idc what they have to say after that, I already think Lamar has been better than Mahomes for 2 seasons now but I will shout it from the mountains if he wins that Super Bowl.

It's like people WANT Lamar to have a subpar or mid performance just so they can shit on him afterwards. It'd be more understandable if Lamar was arrogant or he was a piece of shit off the field but this is FAR from the case.

It's honestly amazing how quickly they diminish his performance any chance they get.

Yep at least Pees is here to help now. Hopefully he can't get this scheme to the best of its capabilities. But I fear even still it might be a bit outdated
When things get straightened out I think we'll learn it had less to do with scheme and everything to do with player execution/communication.

idk if queen gets those reps in this defence either tbh

he was so valuable as a blitzer on 3rd downs or dropping into the short zones and for all intents and purposes, simpson's been good at those things too and has looked better in coverage than PQ early into his career - i think it's more philosophical than it is about personnel

i do think we lose something from our sim pressures/zero looks if we dont have both LBs on there - i doubt OL are as scared of safeties and CBs (not named Hamilton) coming on the blitz and so if you're not sending Ro, who are they scared of coming from the 2nd level or rushing when other guys are dropping out - i think that's where we're losing value on defence by playing more dime and taking simpson off the field
We’re also using Hamilton differently it seems, he was elite in eating up space in the passing lanes as a nickel defender, and it really affected what offenses could do against us, and I feel like his role has changed quite a bit from that to being more of a dimebacker

I don’t watch all 22 so I could be totally wrong but that’s something I feel like I’m seeing in real time
