2025 EDGE Thread

In the midst of looking up Tucker things, Ben Allbright has a note in his mentions about Mike Green having an off the field concern, so something to watch.

im guessing something to do with why he didnt play as a sophomore at UVA and then transferred to marshall...

but no idea what that was

Why does Landon Jackson not seem to get talked about at all, and have a fairly low grade? I feel like I’m watching a nfl star when I watch his tape. Just something about it, straight up physical dominance against a lot of competition, total specimen, active violent and explosive hands, motor off the charts, he looks like a man amongst boys, the film reminds me of tj watt.

he's one i struggle with because he's just so so so so stiff

I know it, I hear ya, I don’t even disagree, but man he has some of the most physically dominant film out there, despite the stiffness I think he could be crazy productive

I like a lot about his film, but it’s the way he consistently loses his footing/balance when cornering on high side rushes

Just makes me think he’ll be an infuriating pro if he becomes a raven lol - feels like one of his likely potential pro outcomes is that he becomes yet another “almost sack” merchants

Oh he will fit right the fuck in then!

I liked him live over the season, and still do after some film work. As Rossi said below, he's just so unimpressive from a movement standpoint. He's a fucking football player though. I'm usually against taking these types of guys early, but feels like Jackson is a rare one I'd be happy about because he plays with so much passion and strength. I don't think he's a top choice for me by any means, but he's a guy that I'd absolutely understand if we took.

You get me then, rationality says he’s not much of a pass rusher at the next level, but my gut feeling after watching his tape makes me say fuck the rationality because he’s different.

Like I understand folks concerns with him, I’m just willing to disregard those concerns, I feel pretty strongly that Jackson is gonna a star at the next level

Can anyone sell me on Shemar Stewart or nic scourton?

i cant sell you on stewart beyond the fact that he's a freakish athlete - guys that size shouldnt move that way
but im not high on him either - im not touching him in R1 personally

Scourton i flip flop around on a bit - but i really like him - heavy hands and great power with his strikes, great run defence, great spin move, has a pass rush plan and sets up moves and counters - he was even faster on tape in 2023 - think some teams may ask him to play a bit lighter to regain some of the explosion you saw on the purdue tape

he's also one of the youngest players in the draft class

I've been reading James Pearce has character concerns....... so guess we avoid both of them don't we even if they do fall?

It depends on the details of the “character concerns”. I believe it’s come out that Wiggins had some “character concerns” but I think that’s been mostly attributed to immaturity issues.

You have any more details on Pearce’s situation? I haven’t heard much regarding him having concerns.

I’ve also read some things about it. All the guys at pff seem to think he’s gonna be a late first, like available for us and in their mocks we’re always passing him up

But then again pff for years now has been lazy af mocking the ravens with a rule of “draft a cb always”

pff also have some weird rankings normally

The two edge guys from Ole Miss are intriguing, Princely Umanmielen and Jared Ivy.

Princely has incredible athleticism, a nasty attitude, and is relentless. He just needs his technique polished up a bit.

Ivy is massive (6'6", 285), but carries it extremely well. Plays with great power, has more bend than you'd expect from his size, and is really good at knowing where the ball will go. More of a chess piece than a pure edge, and letting you put him on tackles or guards for the best matchups.

i really like umanmielen
not watched ivey yet

ive got a lot of EDGEs stacked together at the moment and I'm having a hard time cementing my feelings on them especially the guys ive got in the early day 2 range

the combine is gonna be pretty important for breaking some of these ties to get some more concrete athletic data

really interested to see the testing times of james pearce, princely umanmielen, donovan ezeiruaku, josaiah stewart, nic scourton
want to see what arm length pearce and scourton come in with

jack sawyer could make himself some money if he tests well too

i want to see what weight shemar stewart and mykel williams come in at, and i think if they don't have elite testing performances you will see them drop down the boards for a lot of people

want to see how landon jackson and kyle kennard weigh in as well
