With respect to Mark Andrews, I'm beginning to wonder if his struggles in the postseason are related to the adverse weather conditions. He does not lack in the catch radius department, never has. But on the lateral routes, Andrews tends to pin the ball to his pads, which feels like it directly leads to awkward corrals and double catches. As it stands, the drop offs among his figures are staggering.
Through 8 playoff games so far, Andrews has amassed:
29 catches on 52 targets at 55.8%
315 receiving yards
7 drops (not including the 2 PT) at 19.4%
2 for 11 on contested catches at 18.2%
2 forced missed tackles
0 TDs and 3 INTs, totaling a 49.8 QB rating when targeted
These are remarkable lows. His career numbers in the regular season contain:
70.2% catch percentage, 5.6% drop rate, 50.4% on contested catches, and a 113.7 QB rating when targeted. This year alone, those figures were at 79.7%, 3.5%, 75.0%, and 140.9.
I'm sure it goes beyond just this. There's a mental aspect to the issues that can't be understated. But golly, his outputs and performances between the regular season and the playoffs are night and day.
