The Running Game, the Turnovers, and the Same Ol’ Ravens

Likely is special. I know we do a great job finding TEs, it’s the position we draft best by far, but Likely would be a very hard replacement. Hes got intangibles that you gotta hope you just luck out to replace, it’s hard to pinpoint the kinda awareness he has in a prospect, his YAC is special, at his size he has an incredible ability to stop on a dime and he uses it so well, the way he uses his upper and lower body in tandem in all aspects of playing TE, dude is just different.
Dude is a big ass WR playing TE with an insane catch radius. I swear to god if we let him walk. I feel like he’s what people thought Pitts was going to be

The way he palms the ball, too. Will literally hold it out in one hand. He's one of the most confident plucking TEs in football, I feel.
Yeah, he’s just got so much that he does well and it’s so natural to him, hard to evaluate in a prospect.

And this leaves out that he’s our best blocker at TE. He seriously manhandles defenders

Bruh did you see freaking Mack Hollins on Offense for the Bills? That dude was borderline unsportsmanlike conduct lol. If you don't know what I mean, just go back and watch the final Bills drive. It was like he did some roids or some bath salts or some shit a few minutes ago. Was wild. He looked like he was out there playing defense on offense for the Bills.
He's always been that way. You just never hear about it because what does Mack Hollins ever do in game otherwise?

It’s funny there’s ppl questioning the play call on the 2 point. I mean it can’t get much easier than what Andrews was looking at. Just crazy

So, with the same thing happening multiple years in a row, we need to start a Purpleflock holiday.
Every time the Ravens get eliminated, BmoreBirds bans BoredMarine, so I'm thinking we need some kind of Guy Fawkes kind of celebration where we all wear BoredMarine masks, have a virtual bonfire and burn some effigies of him. I haven't perfected the idea yet, so I'm open to suggestions, but traditions are important.
In my defense, both were warranted.

As for Lamar, I'm at the point where I don't care if he gets carried to a SB win, I just want him to win onone.
I play a few multi-player video games and I've always had this attitude- I just want to win. Someone can carry me and that's cool. I'll just try to not be the reason we lose.

Basically saying, I agree. I think Lamar would, too.

Henry certainly had that type of game where he could carry against the Steelers, but Andrews was too heavy to allow anyone to carry against the Bills.

maybe but it doesn't line them up inside the 10 yard line for an easy td. still would have been 3rd down
Yeah, this exactly.

Was it a bad call? Absolutely. Was it a really big call? Again, absolutely. However, it was still third down and the Bills were 5-11 on the day. It was hardly a forgone conclusion that they convert.

The difference in magnitude between the holding and the DPI is night and day.

Yeah, he has. This game I was wondering why he wasn't getting any of those flags. He definitely treaded the line. Some legit missed calls on that guy.

Don’t forget the hit on Lamar out of bounds.

We’re still in the vent maybe irrationality phase, Andrews screwed this team coming back last year too early too. May as well pile on. Andrews is killing Lamar’s legacy right now

He's very different. He runs like like his feet are attached sideways. lol But he gets it done.
I've loved him from the beginning, great hands, great awareness. I actually thought at one point that they may try to move him to WR.

I get this but it was 2nd short or 3rd and short and the run defense was awful up until that point. I hated that flag but refs aren't to blame here. Glad they didn't call any of the Buffalo flops either. Lamar going to catch hell. The int is inexcusable but that Andrews fumble man. And didn't he drop a 1st down right before the bad snap fumble?

He's an asshole.

Also, I’d be unbelievably pissed if we let Likely walk. I’m fine with cutting Mark after next season and extending Likely, cost permitting. There is no way we can let him leave.
I would definitely try to extend him before he hits free agency. Dude is a baller. Blocks and catches everything.

With respect to Mark Andrews, I'm beginning to wonder if his struggles in the postseason are related to the adverse weather conditions. He does not lack in the catch radius department, never has. But on the lateral routes, Andrews tends to pin the ball to his pads, which feels like it directly leads to awkward corrals and double catches. As it stands, the drop offs among his figures are staggering.

Through 8 playoff games so far, Andrews has amassed:

29 catches on 52 targets at 55.8%
315 receiving yards
7 drops (not including the 2 PT) at 19.4%
2 for 11 on contested catches at 18.2%
2 forced missed tackles
0 TDs and 3 INTs, totaling a 49.8 QB rating when targeted

These are remarkable lows. His career numbers in the regular season contain:

70.2% catch percentage, 5.6% drop rate, 50.4% on contested catches, and a 113.7 QB rating when targeted. This year alone, those figures were at 79.7%, 3.5%, 75.0%, and 140.9.

I'm sure it goes beyond just this. There's a mental aspect to the issues that can't be understated. But golly, his outputs and performances between the regular season and the playoffs are night and day.
I was thinking this morning about Mark, cold weather and his Type 1 diabetes. I know little to nothing about the disease, but read that cold temps can have an adverse effect on folks that have it.
