The AJ Green, the Joe Flacco, and the Defense- Week 2 Edition

i really hope lamar learns from flacco mistakes cause if he gonna become our starter, i dont wanna witness all this bs again
I don’t think we can wait 2 years for Lamar to start. He has to be the starter next year. We need to clear cap space sooner rather than later. I have my eyes on Demarcus Lawrence and Earl Thomas next year. Two guys that can change our defense. I feel if we follow what the Eagles have done the past few years we can contend right away. It’s all on DeCosta to spend smartly and draft well.

Here is a glimpse of that play....doesn't show the all 22 and thus not a complete picture of Boyle but he appears clear from this vantage point.
Thanks. Pocket is squeezing fast on that one but I see no reason why he couldn't see Boyle breaking free well behind gain line. He was straight up in line with Allen. I know I saw this one in live coverage, pretty sure Joe could have as well.

They’ve drafted well for a while now. Too bad they’ve had bad coaching or they would be contenders every year.
I think part of the reason why they’ve been utilized well is part in due to coaching. Marvin Lewis knows how to find guys and fit them into his scheme. I think their issues lie in closing games, sadly they’ve also been unlucky because I strongly feel like 2015 would’ve been the year they win a playoff game had it not been for Dalton’s injury.

I really don’t understand why everyone has such a problem with the Lamar plays. Collins had a nice run in that package solely because of the threat of Lamar. It adds another dimension to the offense that the defense has to think about.

There are 100 reasons to complain about last game and you guys pick something to bitch about that we run 5 times a game? Shut the fuck up.
They run it at the absolute wrong times. Run it on 3rd or 4th and short or the 2 pt conversions they've failed twice at in 2 games. Don't run it after flacco hits 3 back to back passes and its 1st and 10. They have no feel for the flow of the game.

Its not using lamar its the timing

What do you mean he appears clear? Is he not in blocking or am i looking at the wrong guy

i agree. He also needs to have a good look at ALi Marpet. He also needs to stop hording picks and actually trade up for a marquee player rather than settling for excellent depth. There's a reason why we are the pre-season patriots and the regular season meh's.

I agree, when you are behind in the fourth quarter and you have their defense getting winded, you keep going forward and as fast as you can and try to spread the ball around. That is what keeps them on their heels. You don’t slow down the game and let them get set and show them that you intend to run it. If you are going to run it, keep it up tempo and run it before they even have a chance to start stacking the box and are trying to stay back because you are tearing them up in the passing game. The idea is to catch them off guard, that is when you can break off the big runs. Too often our offense has a way of shooting themselves in the foot, when we have a good drive going with some stupid play calls. It gets very frustrating.

Oh good god. It's week fucking 2. It's a new season FFS. If you expected us to go 16-0 that's your own damn fault. The Bengals as a whole do have enough talent top end to take a game from a team that is overall more talented. And to all the detractors, we are more talented than the Bengals. We probably win this game if CJ is healthy(so yes, CJ Mosley is a "difference maker"). And for those going "one player goes down, defense falls apart, unacceptable".. CJ IS THE QB OF THE DEFENSE. When Peyton Manning went down and the Colts sucked everyone understood. CJ is in charge of reading the offense, and adjusting when necessary. He's one of the best in the game when it comes to that. With Jimmy, it's pathetic and I agree, especially with the amount of talent we had. Everyone is going to give Tavon Young a hard time, but it's his second game back after a year of essentially no REAL(preseason doesn't count) playing time going against a top 5 WR in AJ Green. Notice, when we finally adjusted on the defense that matchup suddenly dissapeared. Losing Jimmy sucks but we look far and away better than we did last year without him. AJ Green is just a guy who take over a game no matter who is guarding him, he's that good. This was a loss, and one that sucks, but we have no choice but to put our heads down. Even though it was a loss, we look a HELL of a lot better than we did the past two seasons. I know that it doesn't matter for some of you, but the NFL is a marathon, not a sprint. Anyone who thinks otherwise has clearly never run distance before. There's a time and place to run faster, there's a time and place to pace yourself. It's early, pace ourselves.

The only real cause for concern right now is this oline. If the tape deems Skura is solid, then fine, I'm man enough to admit I was wrong unlike some people. That can be easily fixed. Start Brown at RT, move Hurst back to G and hope we can find a solution on the team that won't suck that we can later put at LG instead of Hurst. If this is as bad as it gets from Flacco this season, so be it. He still looked much better than last year, and he's going to have games where he does that. Problem is, we need to be able to lean on the run game far more often. He has the weapons now, and we have the talent for a running game, but this line needs to be fixed. We do that, we this division. Plain and simple

most websites say a bone bruise is a 2-4 month deal.
So basically thats 8 games out minimum.

Eh. It's too hard of a thing to call, but 8 games is pretty long for a bone bruise. Mosley's raises a little more suspicion since it was non-contact, but most bone bruises haven't kept players out more than a month.

It’s already been reported 3-6 weeks and you’re not a doctor. Stop diagnosing. Not just a you thing, this is an everyone thing. All we can is wait and see.

You often write sensible posts, but I get vertigo trying to get through the walls of text without P breaks. Maybe as an SOP you could post an executive summary following each dissertation. lol ^_^^_^

Looking at the some of the game tape , WE NEED A NEW CENTER !! What was going on was insane. Joe had pressure up the middle all game.

I'm shocked Joe did as well as he did. I hear we are looking for a new center as we speak it was that bad.

the problem is that the guys they are looking at are as bad or if not worse than skura.
