Im sorry but the first 3 plays AB was open so i just had to stop watching..
You say shit sometimes that makes me wonder if you’re even conscious throughout the day. Like you watch that, and then comment that, and you’re serious? Like you were fully conscious and aware when you were watching and you properly recall what you saw?

I honestly feel this way about EVERYTHING you say.

Be real, do you know why corners do what they do? Techniques and positioning? And if AB was just getting open all the time, why was Ben not even bothering to target him? I mean he’s only the best wr in the league, if he’s open, get him the ball right? I mean surely a HOF QB would do that...

I can careless about the way you feel on what i say.. i put my money where my mouth is when it comes to this and it pans out majority of the time! I am not a fan of hump till his ball skills improve. I literally only watched the first 3 plays. I was expecting some super tight cvg till the point he that AB was gonna have no space but thats not what happened.

AB clearly gets in between the cb and S on the first play! 2nd play he ran a lil hitch that wouldve gotten maybe 5 yrds( dont really care for the pump fake), and that 3rd play AB was wide open.

AB was open on every play and Humph didn't cover him tight enough. I love the comment section.
people really expect a CB to run the same route with the WR without any separation between them.

for anyone who hasnt seen this yet here's brian baldinger's breakdown of the ravens @ pittsburgh focusing on marshal yanda - my god is it amazing having marshal back...

https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1047541455294816256

specifically watch the stunt play the steelers run (i think it's the 3rd or 4th clip) and yanda kills it
Yanda put on a clinic its beautiful to watch. the excitement of Baldinger tops this video perfectly off. thanks for sharing

Including zone. Some people just don’t get what a zone defense is all about.

I really dont but if i post a video its gonna be of hump doing a way better job than what was show cased in that vid! sherman and ramsey are fav cbs and they, especially sherman never ran the same route with the wr but his iq and ball skills made up for it

Humph didn't lock down AB a 100%, but Humphrey's in his 2nd year and it's really promising what he's shown so far. I like the metric of pff "passer rating when targeted" and Humphrey was top 5 last season. Humphrey wasn't just covering AB on one side, he covered AB on the left, right and from the slot. Not many CB are capable of doing it. You don't need to get 8 picks a season. Ramsey's also not a ballhawk but hes considered a top3 CB

i 100% agree with you. The fact that we had hump covering AB in the slot is impressive alone and i loved that shit! ramsey isnt a ball hawk i agree but his ball skills are way more superior than hump’s. ive always said that hump plays tight cvg, he just doesnt get his head around. I dont think hump is trash literally, he just isnt as impressive as people think he is

First play Humphrey was on zone and broke off as Ben was winding up to target the other side of the field, that’s pursuit.

Humphrey stuck the shit out of the hitch, AB extended, Ben went elsewhere because AB was covered on the first break. Third play he got a step but Humphrey had more than enough stick to undercut a less than perfect throw, if Ben wants to make that throw it has to be absolutely perfect or else it’s picked in full stride.

You’re severely underestimating Humphrey’s understanding of coverage techniques and positioning, either that or you don’t understand it, anyone who understands coverage concepts can see that Humphrey played him perfectly for all but 4 snaps of that whole video, and one of those 4 snaps was stellar coverage on a broken play(which AB excels at) that he just happened to make a great catch.

If you want someone running the route for the receiver, that’s marshon lattimore, nobody does it quite like him. Humphrey isn’t that type, Humphrey is more about speed, physicality, and great positioning, he uses the sideline extremely well and dictates where the play goes often, and he cuts off throwing lanes and lets his supreme explosiveness and great length finish plays. He knows he’s not winning jump balls, so why run the route for ge receiver? He’s better at playing a more disruptive kind of game. Not every corner wins the same way

I actually got into an argument with a guy who said Humphrey not turning his head in man coverage means AB won every time... not when the ball is coming, I mean he thinks he should ALWAYS be reading the qb... against Antonio fucking brown.

When I explained that reading the qb was more a zone concept and that man coverage was more about sticking the wr and reading cues from the wr that the ball was coming, he was like nope, you always look at the qb. He must have been a steeler fan cuz clearly he likes his corners getting toasted in man coverage

or he likes his corners dead because their necks are broken from looking 180 degrees the wrong way all the time
