I think new management will not waste the first pick in the rule 5 draft. Richie Martin, a shortstop with Oakland could be an interesting selection. He was a #1 pick in 2015, but was plagued with knee injuries for his first couple of years. He is a dynamic fielder with a strong arm, he also has good speed. His bat was a concern early on but now that he knee has healed
he put up good numbers at AA last year. His defense at shortstop would be a huge addition and is something the Orioles
definitely need.

I think they should design a offseason program for Davis then bring him to spring training to
see if he has made progress. I would give him until the end of May and if he is playing like
last year he should be released.

I was glad to see the Orioles non-tender both Tim Beckham ( projected $4.3M salary ) and Caleb
Joseph ( projected $1.7M salary ). Beckham’s defense last season was atrocious. I am anxious to see
what Elias will do with the shortstop and catcher positions.

I like the idea of the rule 5 selection shortstop you was talking about from Oakland. Had a chance to read top players from each team who's rule 5 eligible and they say he's plus defense. #9 hitter perhaps.

Good. He was the Cubs' director of player development and he has experience managing in the minors.
I'm also trusting Elias to choose the right person.

This was @Somerset Ravens guy. Superb glove and plus speed and hit .300. I also liked the acquisition of Jackson. Might as well put that international money into some use. The middle infield was a glaring weakness so hopefully this solves some of it.
Believe he was only the bench coach of the cubs for one year and had something to do with player development. The previous bench coach of the cubs is the Nats manager
