The Offensive Line Thread

Several yrs ago I would take Boone. Not so much now. He looks a lot smaller than his SanFrancisco days. I heard a yr ago he failed a PED test and is near suspension. He is not the player he was when he played for SF. Ravens need to fix the OLine correctly. Not let whomever cut decide. If these players were solid he wouldn't be available at this juncture b4 the season begins. Unless it was a team with an elite OLine with a lot of backups that should be starting. Vikings and Jags are not those teams.

I think a bunch of people here liked Dorian Johnson out of the draft last year (Guard, Pitt). Just got released after being selected in the 4th Round.
Wasn't too big on him, I preferred his teammate, bisnowaty by a mile. But I do remember a lot of people hyping him as a third rounder or better, after I watched his film I made sure I never mocked him to us again lol

Bisnowaty was cut as well. I picked Bisnowaty up in the Forum Mock

I'd like to see us pick him up, bisnowaty looked like a future starter on film imo, can't really remember a single dislike I had about him
What I saw was that he had limitations in playing in space and was beaten by speed rushers. That being said, he was probably cut by the Giants because he isn't a fit for the zbs. I would like to see us pick him up.

From memory Bisnowaty is injury prone, pretty strong for a taller guy. Really surprised Johnson was cut, I thought he would be better at guard though

Starting oline is
Stanley-Hurst-Jensen-Yanda-Howard

Pass pro = fine.

Run blocking = fucked. I hope Ozzie has a move up his sleeve for LG.

I get that it's about time to start drafting Yandas replacement (maybe one more year if not this one), but barring a disappointing showing from Jensen you are mostly looking at addong depth except for RT.

Stanley, Lewis, and Yanda are for sure starting. Jensen as well could keep the job of he puts it together so maybe you look for a replacement RT in the draft, but beyond that you are drafting depth players.

So long as we're planning on drafting 2-3 more oline men after him.

Should've been the main priority. Been saying it all offseason
Even if it wasn't a main priority - it should have been a greater focus than it was.

We basically have no use for Wormley right now. Why we didn't see the need to sacrifice something to use his pick and package it with another to grab one of the guards or centers that went just ahead of him is shaping up to be a mistake. I hope he really turns into something, because the O line guys that went just ahead of him appear they are going to and we sure could use them right now.

How did I know that the coaching staff would let me down by putting Hurst at LG and Howard at RT? Jesus Christ. Let's put the immobile fat ass at RT and put the somewhat decently mobile guy at LG. Fuckin' swell idea. Maybe we're better off with this lineup in the run game -- maybe -- but this is probably not good for pass protection. Talking about the run game, Hurst can't pull and Howard can't reach block.

I liked the Howard pickup but so far he's kinda showing himself to be somewhat useless. He's too slow to pull from the guard position, he's o too slow to reach block from the tackle position, and he's too slow to block the second level no matter where he lines up. The hell is he good for? If we down block him on the 3 every play that leaves the TE one on one with an end. Boyle vs Cameron Wake? Boyle vs James Harrison? Boyle vs Von Miller?

Shit, I almost prefer a line with Skura in at LG so we could have some semblance of athleticism out there. Maybe Howard completely fucks it week one and we shift Hurst back out there and plug Bergstrom in at LG. I dunno what the hell the answer is. I just hope Howard gets in game shape and gets there fast.

In my not-so-humble opinion, LG is the best place to have a weak spot. Your tackles are isolated too much, your RG is routinely against the top DT, and we know what happens with a shit center. I'd rather be strong at those four spots and be weaker at LG.

Here's hoping Howard proves my grumpy ass wrong. Dude needs to get on a diet of kale and black beans and stay away from Golden Corral for a week or two.

His name is Jermaine Eluemunor. He's a project right now, but he's got the tools, and I'd bet the the FO is projecting he'll be ready to roll by the time we need him to be ready. He is the prototype RG for a power or gap scheme.

You don't draft your 3rd round pick to be a full time starter year unless you want a high 1st next year. Great if it works out that way but you don't plan for it.

As for Wormley, we honestly thought he would see some play this year. It's not evwn his fault that a unit that lost 2 players and was a weakness of the team would without adding anyone become a strength of the team.
