Saw a report that we'll pursue Mathieu. My choice is still Amos, but I would understand that move. A little pissed too, considering that's who I wanted when he was coming out and we decided on taking Elam in the first and Brown in the second. Real smooth, Ozzie...

Not that I'd expect him to be a starter or anything, but if they hold onto Jimmy Smith, I would expect Canady to move to S pretty much full time.

I don't think it is so much the Weddle cut but more a reaction to the state of the defense. I think individually these are all fairly smart moves, especially long term, but I also think this defense could look a lot different next year. CJ, Weddle, Suggs, ZS, and Jimmy Smith all potentially going leaves some holes to fill, especially from a leadership standpoint. And then we need to bring in a lot of help for the offense? Not sure that all is going to happen this year.

if you were to add michael pierce and marlon humphrey to that list our defence wouldnt function at all

To be fair, Mathieu was draped in red flags for off the field stuff.

We have a ton of cap compared to the past 5 year, this might be one of the best safety FA markets ever, bound to be someone like lamarcus joyner who goes under the radar and we could snag someone like him
Joyner is my guy, I always saw mathieu as more of a dimebacker/nickel, like a super high end third safety you use like a Swiss Army knife/.. he’s not who I’d want most for us
