For sure. Best case, I just got a dude that figures it out at CB. Worst case, he’s a developmental S. Regardless, he’s on my ST unit.

Even though Chargers fans probably hate me, I felt I had enough depth at TE to final cut the Gates cord.
Yeah, I'm with you there.

Oh, come on. That's not true. They don't probably hate you. They definitely do.

In related news, I have no idea what I'm actually going to do with Tarvarius Moore, but I drafted him last year so I want to see that development through lol. No idea what the 49ers are thinking playing him at CB, so I'm moving him back to FS until real life proves me wrong.
I originally had him at FS on my depth chart but realized the San Francisco 49ers official depth chart has him listed as a CB. Once I won all the FS in FA I moved him there.

Worst case for me, the Niners just got another player that will go into the HOF with a niners Jersey!

Best case....I trade him for my 6th, 6th round pick! Can't have too many of those.

breaking news: Phillip Rivers announces $1,000,000 bounty on GM that stole Antonio Gates from him. "How Dare He"-Rivers goes as he loses his safety net that he's had for the entirety of his career. Spanos does his maniacal evil laugh and Rivers, despite having a good team around him, wishes that he was traded to the Titans for Mariota so that way he can at least listen to country music before the patriots eliminate him in the postseason again.

Watch out @RavensMania

I have no problem giving Gates back, but I have to get Mitch Morse back first @cdp

So, question for the group after reading through some of these posts from the last couple of days? Am I playing the game wrong by essentially focusing on what I would do if I ran the Dolphins (getting them out of cap hell and starting a rebuild)? My goal this entire time has basically been to create a ton of cap space and get younger, but it seems like maybe that's missing the point as others are focused on just 1-year improvement.

you can do it however you want - there's no right way or wrong way really at all - each roster is your project to take over and set your own goals for

some want to set their team up for the future, others go all in for the final try, others try and consolidate for a period of sustained success

Not, not at all the wrong way. So this matter is subjective. Some attempt to get their teams in position to win now and don't mind having a roster with proven veterans that are potentially short-term solutions. Some partake in what you've described, an active rebuild with the mindset of acquiring younger players that aren't quite as proven. This method could very well include having cap space left over for future seasons for signings or re-signings. That's part of the equation. It all depends on how you yourself see it fit. Now, yes, the fact that we reset the table every year does allow for teams to spend a bit more in FA than they normally would because it doesn't rollover into the following season. But you could also argue that having little cap space would make that team's future more difficult to keep that unit together.

Like @Truth said, it's not a wrong way to go about it. Hell I wish I did something similar two years ago where I got stuck with the Jets (screw you @52520Andrew). You doing it this way is better than what I did. I traded a second round pick for Romo AND I passed up on Patrick Mahomes for a CB. Yeah.

I find with this game that there are some years I have had successs, and some have been massive failures. But not every team I've taken was in win-now mode. And I don't think you're going about it wrong at all

Just did a quick run through of the SoFs and I can't even imagine what the prices are going to look like this weekend with how much some of these teams have left. Some big names tonight obviously, but still a ton of cap space left out there.

Time for everyone to do their best Dan Snyder impersonation. Throw that dough!
