I'd give 1st for him. Lot of other really good receivers in this class, sit tight and hope other teams like those guys better.

Please no more receivers. Drafted 2 TEs and 2 WRs in top 3 rounds and right now every other position is desperately more needed. Every front 7 position potentially needs a replacement and the interior OLine is already weak and Yanda is nearing the end.

Yeah, we need to go defense-heavy in this draft to start fixing our front 7. The only exception that I would make is if we do draft any offensive players then it should be for a G or C because we don't know how much longer Yanda is going to play and I still don't know if I can see Skura as a long-term solution (he's been pretty solid this year, but I think we can do better).

totally. This is supposed to be a draft class similar to the 2014 draft class. We won't be taking one in the first round again this year, but we will be able to find one in the 2nd or 3rd. We need a bunch of defense as everyone knows. It would be great if we can remake our front seven and of course extend Peters.

Im hoping we address interior oline early, Jackson has put the team on his shoulders and we need to keep him healthy.

I agree we need to fix our front 7 early AND we also need to upgrade our interior especially with Yanda at the end of his career. Hell, if we win the Super Bowl this year he may retire. As a matter of fact, I'd guarantee it.

i agree that he's worth that sort of capital (obviously this is before proper film study) but my hesitation is more about whether we as a team, from a team-building standpoint, want to invest another 1st in a wr this year also

he's definitely a player id love to have here next year but i wonder if the capital will be something decosta will be happy giving up

My hope here is we sort out D line/pass rush via trades/FA, then invest draft capital in our QB.

Is it just me or does lamar scamble on most of our third down runs

what a lot of the film gurus this week are noticing is that there's some runs against seattle that initially look like scrambles but on close view look like designed runs

but yes he does scramble a lot on 3rd down i suppose - albeit now more than he did earlier in the year - i think he's settled into the idea of taking the yards if they're there and not worrying about staying in the pocket for the big play - if the 1st down is there just take it

and i think what youll see is that when he runs on 3rd down he's almost always getting it no matter the down/distance because he's taking off when he can see he can get it

Taking the absolutely sure 1st down when it is 3rd down is the smart thing to do. 3rd and 10 from your own 10 ... OMG we need a 1st at all costs and risking an incomplete pass to get a big play isn't worth the sure thing. But what happened? He got the big play anyway, gaining nearly 30 yards - because he's Lamar.

That 7 minute FG drive was a back breaker.

How much more capital can they really expend especially when average pass rushers are VERY overpaid?

You have a TE on a second contract, 2 rookie deal high draft picks, both tackles on a rookie deal, and Marshall Yanda being a stud. That's more investment then the 15 years prior combined and there should be no way more is still needed.

The defense needs an infusion of young talent or it will be in real trouble next year.
