not just our friends but war criminals too like eddie gallagher who's crimes were so bad that his own navy seals turned on him which is basically unheard of

Pretty hard to call a man a war criminal when he was acquitted of his "crimes" and had time served for the one crime he was convicted of while waiting for trial. So therefore not a pardon. Trump restored his trident pin which kept him a seal if you want to bang on Trump about anything.
You should do more research.

part of how they've managed to control it is by quarantining everyone coming into the country for 14 days

the UK, while it has a vastly bigger population, had nothing actually stopping it from operating the same measures that new zealand did given they are both islands with the same success

unfortunately (and this is evidence of the fall from grace america has had/is having) they probably wouldnt let US citizens anywhere near their country right now

Seriously how close is the nearest land to the UK compared to NZ. Jeezus. While I highly commend NZ it would've been an abstract failure if there death totals were high per capita

New Zealand has declared they are VIRUS-FREE. They haven't had any new cases in more than two weeks. They do not have to wear masks or social distance from one another.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said while it may not be a full return to pre Covid 19 life, it's a milestone.

https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-asia-52961539

Alright well guess we all just migrate to New Zealand until the US figures this out.
That's actually from more than month ago, when we went back to Level 1 alert (normal life with border closed, 2 week managed quarantine for returning New Zealanders and non Kiwis with special permission - kind of essential workers - all paid for by government).

In reality, we didn't have active case that couldn't be linked to existing clusters for more than 70 days and no cases whatsoever for last 40 days.
Took 5 weeks of lockdown (only supermarkets, pet supply stores and pharmacies open, stay at home with allowance to go out for exercise and to walk dogs, social distancing at all times).
Gradually going down to level 3 and 2 (little less restrictions but not really much) took few more weeks.
Masks were never mandatory, lot of people chose to wear them of their own volition, though.

Currently reported active cases are all from overseas and discovered during mandatory quarantine (each person now tested on day 3 and day 12 of the quarantine). There have been some lapses with that managed isolation but thankfully nothing happened and it's been pretty tight now, with handful of dickheads escaping but getting quickly recaptured.

We'll see how long can this be sustained - it didn't take much for Melbourne to go back to full lockdown after total clusterfuck of isolation/quarantine mismanagement. Waiting and hoping for the rest of the world to get their shit together sooner rather than later.

Government role in all this was huge - science first, clear and concise communication, good plan on testing-tracing-isolation, economic help for all. They did stuff that you would expect from competent government to do but we were lucky this entire drama unfolded while they were in charge and not the other option. For me, more impressive was the fact that the entire nation took this seriously and everybody, give or take few exceptions, did their job.

that ignores the reasons why their death totals weren't high per capita

and being an island is about being an island not about how far from other land masses you are...

Rumor in infosec circles is an Twitter employee had a high level user management tool compromised, and the attackers used that to start re-setting passwords to gain control of the affected accounts.

Just as I thought I've seen it all on the PPE issue.........:lol:

This is why the US won't be rid of this until sometime next year, if we are lucky. Too many stupid people in America, I have a Ravens face mask I wear every day when I go out. I wear it 10 hour a day four days a week at work, it's not that hard of a rule to follow. Apparently it is hard to follow for some Americans.

Shes the reason we need FEMA labor camps.......
Nah, she's just a result of federal government with idiot at the helm enabling lunacy by not doing or saying anything right since they've found out about the virus.

And, by extension, their employees in states:

This is pretty amazing when put into perspective. Lot of scrolling to the right but the numbers and the scale are hard to grasp.

If he were a country, he'd be the 55th biggest economy in the world (pushing top 40 iirc if you count the EU as one country). That's the 26th percentile.

Meanwhile he's in a country with a higher poverty rate than Mexico and Turkey. Crazy stuff.

State of Texas combined the numbers of the positive cases and probable cases, thus leadinflg to the removal of over 3,000+ cases.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ksat.com/news/local/2020/07/16/why-texas-health-department-removed-thousands-of-covid-19-cases-from-bexar-countys-tally/?outputType=amp

This is why it's hard to believe any numbers reported. I wonder how many more are fabricated.
In the long run, it's going to be excess deaths that do the best job of showing how many people died. If your deaths per year go 10, 11, 14, 27, 17 then you can have a pretty good guess that something happened in the fourth year and how many deaths that thing caused. That's happening already (I saw Texas and Florida both have big "pneumonia" spikes this summer...) but the dust will have to properly settle before anyone gets a true picture.

As well as political motivations there are also economic ones (if an old person dies of Covid, a life insurance company may have to pay out, so it may be easier to put it down to a heart attack or something, refuse to pay out and then force the coroner or the family to go to court to prove otherwise and hope they don't have the money or the energy to do so), which speaks to its own fucked up situation. I mentioned a while ago that actual deaths are probably being underreported even without any shenanigans. But even the excess deaths won't cover the health effects that'll last a generation - people whose lungs will never be the same, for example. That'll have to involve a lot of educated guessing.
