what's annoying about videos like these is that you literally learn nothing about the player other than that he can catch... we literally dont ever see him run or do anything because it's a "ball cam" which is great for qb snippets but maybe not much else

there was probably more LJ than Duvernay in that duvernay vid lol

at the moment this is what im struggling with

Eli Wolf vs Charles Scarff but one of them will make it because we will be keeping 3 TEs

which means that im really struggling with the final 2 spots (as I have them) on the 53 - those 2 spots will come from a combination of these players
it would be a lot easier if i didnt basically consider chris moore a lock because of special teams

QB 3 (Huntley or McSorely)
OL 9 (not even really sure who would be OL 9... maybe bredeson...? Fluker as a dark horse idk)
DL 7 (Justin Ellis or Broderick Washington I think - 1 of them definitely makes it - DL 7 is just about whether they both do...)
LB 5 (Otaro Alaka)
DB 12 (Anthony Averett I think)

only 2 of those positions get those players
at the moment im really struggling

I have Averett missing out, Alaka missing out, all 9 OL staying in, Washington making it but not Ellis and Huntley over McSorely

and that still gets me to 54 and i have no idea where to find that final cut

I've got 42 absolute locks to make the roster and another 7 guys i think are basically locks but then also im confident that at TE and QB we keep 3 which gets us to 51...

i dont have chris moore as a lock but he feels like a lock (for special teams) which gets us to 52 with no ellis, no jordan richards (who also feels like a lock for special teams too) and no chris board (and only 3 LBs total without him)

this year is a major conundrum to work out the back end of the roster but i guess that speaks to the strength of the roster more generally

Dammit. Bronson was literally the only one I cared about. His tape is ridiculous

There's definitely going to be one or two really tough decisions to be made if everyone stays healthy.

QB (3): Jackson, Griffin, McSorley/Huntley
RB (5): Ingram, Dobbins, Edwards, Hill, Ricard (FB)
WR (6): Brown, Snead, Boykin, Duvernay, Proche, Moore
TE (3): Andrews, Boyle, Scarff/Wolf
OL (9): Stanley, Bozeman, Skura, Fluker, Brown, Phillips, Powers, Bredeson, Mekari
DL (6): Campbell, Williams, Wolfe, Madubuike, Ellis, Washington
ILB (4): Queen, Fort, Harrison, Alaka/Board
OLB (5): Judon, Ferguson, McPhee, Bowser, Ward
CB (5): Humphrey, Peters, Smith, Young, Marshall/Averett
S (5): Thomas, Clark, Levine, Elliott, Stone
ST (3): Tucker, Koch, Cox

Like you, I'm at 54 and that's including a couple of tough cuts already.

I guess you could go with 2 TEs with Ricard as more of an inline blocker. Although I doubt it, Hill could be a surprise cut. Does one of Washington or Ellis struggle to make it knowing Ricard, McPhee, and Ward will all play with their hands in the dirt on occasion? Moore is on as a prime STer but not a lock. 9 OL is virtually guaranteed with the new 8 active rule. Is ILB a spot we could go with only 3?

So many questions here, and this is still leaving out some guys that I don't think are firmly on the outs either (Jordan Richards, Trystan Colon-Castillo, Parker Ehinger, Kenjon Barner just to name a few that could factor in as well).

i completely forgot about ehinger

think jordan richards is the biggest threat to your 54 right now lol

EDC and Harbs have made such a point when asked that we could carry 4 RBs (and it helps that Hill plays special teams too with regards to his roster spot)

I reckon they might gamble on 3 ILBs knowing that they never use 3 in-game and the fact that the 4th ILB is basically a special teamer and probably isnt as good on special teams as Richards or Moore etc. and the fact that it's unlikely a guy like Alaka gets picked up if we want to put him on the PS which gives us options to elevate someone later - we could use one of those vet PS spots on a guy like Chris Board maybe...

right now that 4th ILB seems expendable because we rarely even use 2 ILBs given the way we use the dime with chuck clark as the green dot on defence and with the way special teams has changed to create fewer running starts the more athletic DBs and WRs are far better in this new era of special teams more generally

the other thing is that i think it was proven that a LB can come in on a week's notice and be an impact maker on this defence with wink as they did last year (both LJ Fort and Josh Bynes)

as always special teams and trench depth is king when we look at the back end of the 53 for the ravens in recent history and to me that means Richards, Moore, OL 9 and maybe even the full set of DL but who knows

I wanna know what you mean when you call fluker dark horse. I think he steps in to start at RG from day one and there’s never even a competition

Just in regards to Richards... I know he's a STer but I think he's hurt by Elliott (if he can stay healthy) and the pick of Stone. One thing about Stone is that he had pretty extensive ST run in college and I'm thinking that'll translate well.

dark horse in the sense that he hasnt actually played well recently - that he's the favourite right now to win the RG slot i assume but that there's a possibility that it just doesnt work out...

that's what i mean - that he's a dark horse candidate to miss the 53

i get that but we kept bethel last year and his roster spot was seemingly never in doubt - richards was his replacement and did really well down the stretch on a struggling special teams unit - i feel like he gets carried

the other thing is we normally carry more than 10 DBs

elliott obviously helps special teams a huge amount and stone's a nice addition to that group

from what i saw i think richards is a good enough special teamer that he'll win a spot rather than being eased out by the ability of other players to fill the void he'd be leaving...

we've prided ourselves on great special teams for years and the unit was a real let down last year on a historically great team - no way they let that happen again

Don't get me wrong... I get it. Just think he's the odd man out as it currently stands. I'm all about keeping the ST units strong but you only have so many spots and he seems to be in the toughest spot with 3/4 Ss (if you want to include Clark even though he's a starter now) also playing ST.

I'm definitely not counting him out though. Just think he's caught in a numbers game unless there are some surprise cuts elsewhere.

Regardless of all of that, whoever wins that 5th CB spot is going to have to play ST and that puts Averett in a dangerous spot. I know he's struggled there. Haven't really gotten a chance to see Marshall but he could be a much better bet for CB5.

Ahh ok I get it. I think the only possibility is if Tyre Phillips as a rookie is better than all projections, and if fluker is as bad as the worst he’s ever played

Phillips is in an interesting spot this year. He might be forced into the swing T role whether intended or not. Just no depth there and he’s the most obvious fit right now.

Fully agree, I never felt in the slightest that he was gonna be anything special. The absolute most you could hope for from that guy was a peyton hillis like career, but I’d also say it’s extremely unlikely that he will ever put together a year like the one hillis had

I agree and that’s another reason as to why I think fluker is a dead lock for RG. The only realistic option other than Fluker is gonna have to go through the Harbs rite of passage for an OL first and learn 2 different positions starting as a rookie. And I don’t think bozeman, powers, or bredeson have the slightest chance to replace fluker right now
