sometimes it hurts to watch some of the tape - it's so much fun when you've got talented guys in offences that give them a chance to show off

but sometimes it hurts to watch every single time the QB tries to throw - michigan's 2019 tape is ugly but I think Bo Nix's 2020 tape is worse - one of the most horrible to watch QB's - how is this dude a starter in the SEC? where are Auburn's coaches - are they asleep at the wheel?

have been watching seth williams and just couldn't stop grimacing whenever bo nix passed the ball - it's ugly

this class is absolutely teeming with fast little guys lol

so far i've gone through:

jaylen wadlle
kadarius toney
rondale moore
dazz newsome
amari rodgers
anthony schwartz
d'wayne eskridge

and there's at least 2 or 3 more i know i've got to get to who are built similarly lol

we'll see where i land 2020 vs 2021 when i've got through the depth

but i think i can safely say that 2021 is better at the top - comfortably taking both bama guys over anyone in the 2020 draft and im looking at bateman and chase and it might be close between them and the top guys in the 2020 class too

You're that high on Waddle huh?

You're that high on Waddle huh?

my notes so far - but to me he's clearly far better than Ruggs who went 1st last year, clearly better than Jeudy who went 2nd last year and probably better than Lamb too (who I thought was the best WR in the 2020 class but went 3rd)

- 5’10 180lbs

- Coming off an ankle injury (break?) that required surgery – looked rough attempting to come back for the national championship but good sign that he was cleared already – but will need medical teams to sign off on the ankle

- Plays the game with a jetpack strapped to his back

- Explosive and quick cuts – acceleration is outrageous but also is able to conserve momentum so well through his cuts

- As a route runner there’s some inefficiency in his breaks (too many steps/rounds off sometimes) but mostly the cuts are sharp, he eats up cushion so fast that he’ll make defenders 5 yards away from him fall over just because of his stem – good with his releases creating space to win leverage - ultimately he’s a very efficient separator with some nice details in his route running (but with room to improve) – has a good understanding of how to manipulate zone coverage too

- Very few reps against press

- But he’s just incredibly explosive changing direction and changing speed

- Surprisingly big catch radius – and can jump out the gym – not scared of contact and looks for extra yards

- YAC ability is insane – weaving running style in and out of blocks – great balance – a genuine threat to house it whenever the ball’s in his hands (shows up as an amazing returner too) – his ability to read and setup blocks is high – and he absolutely obliterates angles

- Good hands

- Stretches the field both vertically and horizontally and threatens every level of the defence

- Elite speed and quickness but his short area explosion looks to be very special, great at the catch point too

- He was routinely drawing extra attention from defences and still beats those double coverages

- Sometimes lazy when the play’s away or when asked to block

@JoeyFlex5

good find on ihmir smith-marsette

really nice developmental prospect with a high ceiling - love the way he moves, like how he runs vertical routes - obviously got some worries about the limited route tree and lack of functional strength at times but he's got a good set of tools and the ability to make use of manufactured touches - feels like a complementary piece early in his career as a gadget type prospect

he's got the upside to align anywhere but probably has to play slot/gadget guy/special teams ace early in his career unless he proves he can beat press this offseason

really wish he'd been invited to the senior bowl

after consistently saying there's not a ton of boundary guys in this class and really disliking a lot of the more highly thought of bigger outside receivers, i've started finding some guys who I like who I think have the tape of day 2 type selections based on what i've seen so far who fit that sort of profile

just not highly-touted guys - and they were buried on my lists

but this group of 4 who will all be at the senior bowl i like - and i think if they have good senior bowls they're gonna be shooting up draft boards (and bonus 1 of them even played with Lamar in 2017)

Frank Darby
Dez Fitzpatrick (played with Lamar)
Cornell Powell
Nico Collins

I've finally completed my list of WRs - I've got preliminary grades on 39 WRs (18 of them will be at the senior bowl which could change some things) - as could access to more tape (pretty limited on a fair number of them right now)

but as it stands right now I've got:
- 4 bonafide 1st round grades
- 15 total day 1/2 grades
- 31 total draftable WRs (some of the draftable vs udfa guys on both sides of the line are senior bowl guys so that is very likely to change)

of the 39 - I've got 12 small speedy guys which feels like an absurdly high proportion

much later in the process i'll start to fill in all the guys i havent got to yet (a lot of whom will probably likely be udfa candidates but can't say for sure because i havent watched any of them yet)

but im glad im stopping here with the WRs because i was starting to feel pretty braindead watching multiple guys in a row who weren't that fun to watch

onto a different position group now lol thank god...

As @rossihunter2 mentionned the amount of slot receiver talent in this class ils downright silly. If having Duvernay prevents us from drafting a D'wayne Eskridge or Dazz Newsome I might lose my mind.

i love dwayne eskridge - i think he's gonna show out at the senior bowl - one of the few little guys who's got tape vs press

not as high on dazz newsome - still think he's a nice prospect but not sold on him over some of the other guys

That’s what I was saying the other day lol when I said it’s loaded with slot talent. I know you aren’t automatically relegated to the slot in the nfl when you’re smaller and fast, but.... kinda lol.

His vertical routes and ball tracking are what impressed me the most, he releases over the top very consistently, his tape feels like a highlight reel of stem>release>track>catch on deep balls down the sideline.

I’ll second the dazz notion lol, he looks a lot like what duvernay would be if he had fluid hips and could sink and change direction quickly

his vertical routes are by far his best route-running trait - shows some nuance with his stems and releases fairly well (i do worry that if he actually gets pressed he might not have the functional strength to deal with it but that's a projection you make with 80%+ of WR prospects coming out of college because the guys who make it are often just much better athletes than the guy across from them)
