i guess it's more than just contract stuff then...
apparently preferred landing spots are west coast (raiders and broncos - if they're interested)

but also... he would be the focal point - he's still that good
with julio and hollywood on the field you cannot stack the box because they will make you pay outside and over the top
1. You won't be able to save $10M this year by converting Julio's salary to bonus. I think you can create $7-8M, but you can't drop his salary to zero.
2. Basically, whatever cap savings you create with him is what you have available to spend. The problems are that nobody has any idea what Houston/any edge rusher, or any veteran Tackle, will cost. I would suspect it'll be at least $3-5M per, and might be more than that. That also leaves you pretty thin elsewhere.
Signing/trading for him will cost you something. It's more of a question of what happens in the draft. You land a Tackle or edge rusher in the first round, maybe you don't need one of those guys, and can fill with mid-round picks.
We will find out in the next 7-8 hours. If we take a WR in the first, the Julio discussion ends.
Isnt league minimum 1.7 million which means you can cut his 15.3m down to 1.7 and convert 13.6 to signing bonus spread out over 3 years which is about 4.55 so about 9.1m saved technically.

Part of the problem with this is that his $15.3M is fully guaranteed this year, so Julio gets nothing additional out of this restructure. He's getting the same amount of guaranteed money regardless. Sounds great to us but what's the benefit for him?
to a restructure? - doesnt really matter he's getting the same money - his incentive is to do the deal to let his team be better without losing any money... not sure there's a player who doesnt agree to that sort of a restructure (that's not named aaron rodgers apparently lol)

I agree to an extent. Getting the same money but if it's not a favorable destination, he doesn't have to do any moving of his money to accommodate it. Now, is he a stats guy to where he doesn't want to be here in a running offense? I've seen nothing to indicate that, but you never know. I still think that just in general, you'd need to give some sort of sweetener to entice a guy to move that money around.
I mean players typically are not going to ever oppose a restructure. They have no reason to do so unless they just do not want to play in the spot they are at.

Julio is a guy who at this point wants a ring. He’s never been the diva type
Right, but $9M in savings only gives you about $10M to play with, after you account for draft picks, practice squad, etc.Isnt league minimum 1.7 million which means you can cut his 15.3m down to 1.7 and convert 13.6 to signing bonus spread out over 3 years which is about 4.55 so about 9.1m saved technically.
Florio brings up a good ass point. The Ravens obviously knew about Julio’s contract and still inquired. What if it’s Julio who doesn’t want to play here?

Going to be extremely interesting if we don’t come away with a WR with at least one pick tonight (I think we’ll trade one). I wonder if that’ll force our hand to make a trade for Julio after June or any WR for that matter if there’s a run on WRs before 27 or we won’t like who is there. I’m just happy EDC is trying to add to the groupmore likely they're asking the falcons about price - doubt julio's even been engaged with about it

Id rather a WR in round one but if Julio is the move, so be it. At the end of the day i don't care as long as we get Lamar a legitimate play maker. He deserves better
