The Lamar, The Defense and The Comeback

also for those talking about lamar facing backups - well he was playing with backups too during that comeback lol...

bateman still on i/r
watkins on the sideline hurt
stanley out
tyre out
zeitler on the sideline hurt
entire RB corps out

yes we still had hollywood and andrews but he was getting it to our 4th and 5th WRs, our 3rd TE (depending on how you look at the TE depth chart), and devonta freeman to ultimately rip the colts hearts out

he models himself after brady and he looked like him - that 2pt conversion to mark andrews right down the middle was classic brady - step up, looks like you might take off but just gently push it forward for the td to the receiver

i think lamar's slowly building that terminator-like persona and you could see it in the colts faces on the sideline late - they could feel it was coming and they couldnt do anything about it
yep, reminded me of the Falcons Pats super bowl where we all knew the comeback was coming, especially when they were only up 2 TDs. Also believe there was a 19 point difference in that SB also.

I don’t mind the change. It’s the guys like Bucky Brooks who have openly criticized for years who are now acting like they’ve always been on his side. Admit you were wrong and I’ll respect it.

it's one thing i liked about booger mcfarland on that 2019 rams monday night game - mid-broadcast while Lamar was showing the whole world how amazing he was, booger admitted that he was completely wrong and that he wouldnt doubt lamar again

and for the announcers saying that the Colts were missing their top 2 players on the offensive line, yet not saying a thing about us missing Stanley, Cleveland and then Zeitler was absolutely ridiculous

they never even noticed that zeitler went off the field and that we had only 1 starter left in their original spot from week 1 (Bozeman)

They were so bad last night… more so than usual. Just felt like they were sleepwalking through that game. Boring, lifeless, and just all around bad commentary.

That’s the game I thought of when Lamar did what he did .

Yeah there was nothing special about the first half defense either. The "they were gassed" argument doesn't hold up on film. They obviously give up the big TD on the third play of the game, and the very next drive, they give up an 11 play, 65 yard drive that was bailed out by a great Oweh play. No way they were gassed after three plays on the prior drive.
The FG drive at the end of the half was after a lengthy Ravens drive that provided ample time for recovery.
Gave up well over 200 yards of offense in the first half. I guess only holding them to 10 points is something, but that's not how I would evaluate a defense's performance either. Gave up three drives of over 55 yards.

Second half defense was atrocious. They're well rested coming out of the half, and give up two chunk plays for another 73 yard TD. Give up a 6 play, 81 yard TD drive after that, well rested out of the half.

Just a poor performance for the most part. A couple of solid, individual plays helped bail out an otherwise bad performance.

Ok so I think the “ ran out of gas” argument deserves more merit when you look at our offensive drives. Even the FG was not a lengthy drive.
1. 3 plays punt 1:38
2. 3 plays punt 1:40
3. 5 plays punt 3:31
4. 6 plays punt 3:57
5. 9 plays FG 2:49

I also think it’s fair to judge the defense differently than the offense as they have no X factor like Lamar. No one expected this defense to be great. We all knew coming in there would be minimal pass rush and then on top of that lost an all pro CB

I felt the only reason we’re in a position for a come back was the defense. No argument they were terrible in the 2nd half but it certainly didn’t surprise me

Had nothing to do with them being gassed. They just got gashed over and over. Started the game that way. It took the Colts playing ultra conservative and some K woes for us to get any stop. D was awful as a whole and there shouldn’t be any excuses.

the whole production was off - going to commercial with a flag on the field, not explaining what's happening on the field, not showing what's happening on the field, who's the injured guy etc.

seems to be an epidemic of non-replays of important plays in the last few ravens games - not showing critical penalties like that Averett DPI call they brought in parry to ask about it but never showed the audience

and i thought those things were a side effect of having Gumbel and that other guy and them being like the 8th best CBS crew but clearly it's not just them lol

i think wink probably needs to adjust - the scheme isnt working with the current personnel

we've got lots of talent on the backend but we're still getting picked apart so i think he needs to adjust and maybe be less aggressive this season

I wish I could travel back to December 31st, 2017, and tell Ravens fans we'd be complaining about being too aggressive on defense.

atleast when I was driving home for the 4th quarter last night I was able hear the game with better announcers on the radio.

im not complaining about it strategically especially with how its worked in recent times but it's not working right now so we need to adjust something and it might be changing up some of our coverages and blitzing less

but id never complain about having an attacking philosophy on defence unless it becomes aimless (which it's not right now but it feels like it could)

just felt like there was no gameplan last night on defence and i dont think ive ever felt that way about a wink defence before even when the raiders and chiefs were gashing them i could see the gameplan

Agreed. Thought it was funny when they were talking about the DPI that they kept going to Parry and he just wasn’t replying for the most part. Think he had a couple of quick like 3-4 word answers. No analysis at all lol

I love how ppl say Lamar can’t do it in the playoffs tho and josh allen beat him as if allen didn’t score just 10 points at home
