1. Don’t call it a breakthrough infection lol, that’s a bullshit buzzword made to overhype the efficacy of the vaccines, the number of positives in vaccinated people give a large enough sample size to toss the term “breakthrough” right out the window
2. Yes, it limits the symptoms, that’s all it does, and that’s great, but it does not prevent contraction or transmission, other than limiting how much people cough the virus into the air.
3. The vaccine has essentially zero effect on omicron just like it had seriously reduced effectiveness on delta, the vaccine Deals with the spike protein, the spike protein is what has mutated, until the vaccine is changed and updated, it will be essentially useless against omicron. Even health professionals are saying this which is why concern is so high.
Also, it appears this strain is originating in Africa, maybe if the first world nations would stop hoarding vaccines and trying to force them into unwilling subjects when other nations are pleading for them, we wouldn’t be seeing omicron. But that’s nonsense really, covid is beyond the point of endemic and it’s a rapidly mutating virus and once it broke containment we lost all hope of “nipping it in the bud” and the only reason news networks try to convince you otherwise is because big money mfs need to make people feel warm and fuzzy about the future so they can get back to making money in as many ways as possible and re opening the world. That’s what the vaccine is being pushed for, peace of mind for the masses, but in reality it’s a personal choice that affects only the recipient. This isn’t smallpox or polio which had actual immunity granting vaccines, THOSE had breakthrough infections, the covid vaccine doesn’t have breakthroughs, it’s just that a vaccinated person was exposed and the virus and vaccine are both behaving as intended.
I am just really tired of seeing these crazy assumptions that players are unvaccinated just because they tested positive, and the incessant bashing of players who choose not to be experimental subjects.
