I don't know what it is lately but man MLB is all about ending World Series droughts for teams lately. Have to say though, that does bode well for MLB parity as it seems the World Series is coming down to the most unlikely matchups nobody saw coming.

2017 - Dodgers(29 years since last WS appearance in 1988) Astros(12 years since last WS appearance in 2005)
2016 - Cubs(71 year wait between 1945 & 2016), Indians(19 years since last WS appearance in 1997)

I'm going to root for the Astros to win the WS because they beat NY, but I hope this will be an exciting series either way.

I’m predicting an astros win in 7. These two teams match up really well though. Both of these teams are scorching hot so deciding a team with a clear cut advantage is going to be hard.

Ultimately the question we need to ask is which Kershaw is showing up? While I do think that his previous playoff woes can mainly be attributed to having an incompetent manager, we’ve never seen Kershaw play under this kind of pressure. Verlander was poor in his only World Series outing a few years ago, but has been scorching this postseason while Kershaw has been very good until the seventh inning where then he suddenly decides to fall apart. If Kershaw comes out can dominate the first six innings and the dodgers are smart enough to pull him and take advantage of one of the best bullpens in baseball than the series is going to seven. Which favors the Dodgers cuz homefield advantage. And the fact that Dodgers stadium is a pitchers park.

Ultimately there’s only one matchup that really matters here.

LA Dodgers Pitching vs. Houston Offense. Houston has an elite offense, with a few studs in there like correa and altuve. Dodgers have the best pitcher in the game, and a metric fuckload of depth behind him. If they can limit that Houston offense, then they’re going to win the series. Which is a serious possibility. The dodgers four man rotation is possibly the best in baseball. Kershaw needs no introduction. He’s only 29 and he’s already a hall of famer. A ring puts him in contention for one of the best pitchers ever and basically solidifies first round ballot status. Darvish is a stud too. He’d be a #1 on most teams and a solid one at that. But he’s the #2(even though I think the dodgers should have tried to trade for Verlander but I’ll get to that in a minute). Rich Hill is a really good #2.. he’s their third guy. And Alex Wood was a deserving all star this year, and he’s fourth. Behind this group is a damn good bullpen with one of the game’s elite closers.

Houston has good pitchers on the top end themselves, but the dodgers offense will take advantage of the lack of overall depth on the roster. The bullpen isn’t a liability but not an asset either. And the dodgers kind of have an elite offense in their own right. Cody Bellinger came the fuck out of nowhere and ran away with rookie of the year. Seager is a stud and is likely going to be the best shortstop in the league at some point. Justin Turner decided to have an MVP caliber season for some reason. Chris Taylor has proven himself to be an incredibly valuable asset as well. Grandad is an above average catcher who can sometimes play at an all star level, and Puig when his head isn’t logged up his ass is also another all star. Then you’ve got seasoned veterans in Either and Granderson, both of which deserve rings, and you’ve got yourself a unit that can go against anyone. If that incredibly talented unit can take advantage of the lack of overall pitching depth, then the series is going to be competitive.

But all eyes are on Kershaw. You finally have the big moment because your current manager understands how to actually use you. Take advantage of it and dismantle the best offense in the majors.

If only the O’s could be that lucky and end our drought.

I live in LA and this World Series couldn't be cooler IMO. I know the Yankees are huge and popular, but this is a blessing for the city of Houston well needed. So much money and job opportunities will arise from this event. The city will make a shit ton of money. Also, although I am an Orioles fan, I went to a lot of Dodger games this year. Would be cool to see them win, maybe it'll erase my sadness from the Ravens. Dodgers in 6

Not warming up the pen before the seventh was a massive mistake that might cost LA. Good thing about the Dodgers is their offense is so damn deep that it might keep em in it.
