The Awful, The Run Defence and The Offence

I think your judging off emotions and the “eye test” if you don’t think this defense is good right now. Every stat says otherwise. They are a big reason we’ve remained in contention. They will also be key to a run next year as the offensive will undergo a lot of change in 2023.
I certainly am. Won't deny that. Problem is I think they're likely to be exposed in whatever the next two games are. Then, unfortunately I think this defense takes a considerable step back next year after losing Calais, Peters, and Chuck. It may also lose Roquan. Hopefully not. But I don't see this defense being better next year, I see it being somewhat significantly worse.

On the bright side, I could see the offense getting significantly better.

I'm watching old Marquise Brown film. We need a receiver so bad. We needed one even when Brown was in town. Now, this is terrible.
I’d much rather have Linderbaum but I agree. I just can’t trust Bateman anymore. I wouldn’t mind signing/trading for one or two WRs while also selecting a WR high. Time to give Lamar the Hurts/Tag treatment

And an OC who knows how to design a passing game but is willing to incorporate some of our run game stuff

The defense is on the field too much. Regardless of whether Jackson stays, they need to get a true #1 WR that can make crazy catches and win contested balls. And then pray he stays heathy. You can't win against a good team without a passing game.

I don't know how anybody can say our D was OK last night just because it was slightly better than our offense. It's not fucking hard to be better than zero.

OBJ Maybe? Injury is concerning, but if he's OK, then I would sign him. Who should our next OC be anyways?
I've been begging for OBJ for awhile. But it seems he's just not healthy enough.

Not exactly sure yet for OC, but I'd love for it to be an outside hire. Maybe someone from either the Eagles or KC staffs

And hopefully they bring with them draft scouts that excel in spotting WR talent

It turns out, over last few years, it's not enough to just spot a talent. You have to make aggressive moves to acquire talent, be it a trade, FA or in draft. Our antiquated ways will never produce the result.

The real OC solution is Jim Caldwell. I'm writing an article about this on the Beatdown

Last 5 games Ravens defense has held opponents to 12.2 points per game.

Last 5 games Ravens offense has scored 11.8 points per game.

Ravens have lost 2 of those games.

So are we going to keep dumping on the defense because they played terrible opponents? I am not saying that the defense can't play better because they absolutely can but the notion that they keep collapsing needs to stop when the offense clearly isn't pulling ANY of their weight.

Defense is nowhere near the issue to me at the moment.

11.8 points a game. Are we serious right now? The teams some of you are telling me are bad score more than us. Denver, DENVER has averaged 19.8 points in the last 5 games.

Even the fucking Falcons have scored more in that stretch with 15.2.

The conversation is on the offense and coaching for me at this point. We can talk about the defense WAYYYY later IMO

When it comes to WRs I'm less worried about a true number 1, and just want a group of competent WRs. And an OC capable of spreading out defenses and getting open 5 to 6 yard completions to move the chains and eat time.
