Hurst or Andrews? I'm torn on this. Andrews is the classic witten style route runner with elite catching ability at every level, basically uncoverable because no matter how tight the coverage he is open. Hurst is a physical freak, closer to gronk/shockey, nontraditional TE who can make tough catches pretty well but he shines in space with the ball in his hands, not nearly as refined, he needs to improve his route running, but he has a higher ceiling there as he appears to be a better athlete and more physical.

I love watching Andrews catch the ball, I love watching hurst run before and after he catch because he's such a powerhouse. I'm torn on these 2 but I'm leaning Andrews

Andrews is always wide open when I watched him. Yes he is good at finding soft spots in the zone but he also plays for the OK offense and no chance he is ever that open in the NFL. Fumagalia is by far my favorite prospect, his ability to make contested contests is my incredible. There are a ton of freak tightends this year and I love it.

Antonio Gates and Jason Witten disagree with you. Those two have spent over a decade and a half in the NFL and are still effective players because of this. It's a gift, you can't really learn it. So many plays with those two where they are just wide open. Andrews has that gift, and for that reason he's my #1.

Fumagali is good.. But I cannot put him above Andrews. He has some questionable drops and is not as good after the catch. Solid blocker. But I question his ability to get separation at the next level. In all the hours I watched tape on Andrews he put maybe one ball on the ground.

Hurst has more potential. Andrews is the better prospect.... though not by much. Hurst is a better athlete, but Andrews' athletic ability is comparable to Tyler Eifert. An inferior athlete to Gronk... though not by much.

Both have elite potential imo but Andrews is the safer pick. This is a damn talented TE class

I agree Andrews is a better player overall purely on how elusive he is. I should have stated it as Fumagalia is better in value, if wanted Andrews it would have to be a first round pick, and I think we need a receiver there. I love the depth of this draft. Guys getting open at TE scares me after Maxx... that was his main trait lol. Maxx never had to make contested catches in college and that is why he struggles now. Against zone, I could see Andrews as a complete legend. My problem is nearly all of his catches and highlights have come wide open. He won't always be that open. I would love to see Andrews go up 1 on 1 against Roquan Smith. That would show his worth when against a solid cover man imo. Fuma's ability to make such contested catches is what I enjoy. And his name.

If you watch Troy Fuma against Western Michigan... this guy is going to be great. WM had a very decent coverage backer who shadowed Troy the entire game, the coach said he didn't know what else he could even try to do.

Ummm... Maxx kind of excelled at those. You're thinking of Crockett.

I know Crocket had the incredible ability to watch a jump ball go straight to the defender and then somehow get hurt on the same play. I just checked Maxx's pre draft profile and it has him listed as " Speed to chew up cushion and open a throwing window over the top. Will threaten seam and dominated defenders on wheel routes. Red-zone winner" I always saw him getting open in the middle of the field. I do recall however in 2015 week 17, his best game of the season, he had some incredibly tough catches against the Bungals.

tight ends never seem to get any first round hype, and the ones that get the hype always end up going way later than expected.

mark andrews being probably the best TE prospect ive ever scouted, still not getting first round buzz, but do you all consider him a first rounder?

i say, without question, yes, especially for us, and heres why: maxx williams is looking more and more like a bust. he gets so many snaps, but almost exclusively as a blocker, targets are not schemed, he does not seem to earn targets, on the incredibly rare occasion he IS targeted he tends to make good use of it but then gets up and limps off the field and is gone for the game. nick boyle is a non factor, i dont know why we target him over maxx so often, on occasion he hurdles a tackler but thats it, hes slow as molasses and an average catcher and quite frankly inferior to maxx as a blocker. thank god for ben watson is all i can say.

1. every year expecting watson to return and be productive is optimistic, with him gone TE becomes potentially our biggest need on the entire team, so andrews would fill an enormous need.

2. joe flacco has always favored TEs and has not been able to nearly as often in recent years due to lack of talent, joe plays his best when he is able to lean on a quality TE when he isnt able to drive the ball downfield, he does much better moving the chains, dink and dunking, and with redzone shots when using a TE rather than a slot receiver.

3. who realistically is a better talent at any position that we can expect to be available as far back as the late 20s? i cant think of one. i like anthony miller, christian kirk, darius phillips, billy price, orlando brown, and martinas rankin, but i cant say that they wont mostly be available in the 2nd, and i cant say that any are a better talent and/or value and/or need than andrews. and all the other guys i would like in the first i cant reasonably see them being available, rashaan evans, courtland sutton, ronnie harrison, mcglinchey and nelson, a few could fall but they should all go before we pick.

4. of all prospects realistically available in the mid-late 20s, can you name a single prospect who is more safe and represents a bigger upgrade to this team than andrews? thats my number one basis for grading prospects for the ravens, and there arent too many guys in this class that can present more of an upgrade to this franchise for the short and long term than andrews.

To me, he is top half of the first round, considering how good pass catcher and route runner he is, with the added bonus of the best blocker in this class.

I think lot of people will get surprised at how high would some guys go this draft. Not very deep class (apart from H backs).

The more plays I watch of Ian Thomas, the more I think he could be a real weapon in the NFL. And unlike some other weapons on offense, we won't have to spend a top end pick on him.

I really love the way he finished the run in this video. He has toughness go with his athleticism.

Agreed, he's become my favorite for our first round pick, I hope some team doesn't become enamired with him and snatch him right before us. He would be PERFECT here and I simply can't think of a guy I'd rather have in that range.

That route was elite af. I've been meaning to give him a look because his skillset sounds intriguing and that clip shows some impressive stuff

Haven't seen him talked about on here yet but one guy, a 'must-have' for me if we miss out on Andrews, is TE Dallas Goedert. South Dakota State, Should be a Day 2 pick and it could end up being for us.

  • 6'5, 260, runs a 4.65 with a 36" vertical. He runs the 20-yard short shuttle at 4.21 which is faster than Evan Engram.
  • 10 1/8" Hands.... that's incredible. This year he put up over 1,100 yards on 72 receptions and 6 touchdowns. He had over 6 100+yard games.

He's my TE1 and I think he'll be gone before our second pick

Goedert looks awesome, he absolutely dominates, and I love how well the ravens do with small school guys, and I say we stick to our small school formula and all... but god dammit I can't put the stamp on a small school guy in the second lol
