Side note - I think Lombardi hit the nail on the head when he mentioned that one of the biggest things to come out of the presser was the acknowledgment that they haven’t brought in enough senior scouting talent to replace joe douglas and others - we’ve spent too much time bringing young guys through that we lack a breadth of experience in the room - it’s mostly all just focused in joe hortiz, Ozzie and Eric

Did Bisciotti give Hurst and shout out?? After being the oline whipping boy he deserves some recognition. I believe he was rated a top10 guard. phenomenal!! Considering his shortcomings at tackle.

Mink’s annoying but ultimately well meaning and harmless - he’s not a great football mind but he’s a nice guy and it was nice to meet him (but briefly) in London

but something about Byrne and the way he says things and what he says makes me deeply unsettled at times and at others actually angry...
You don't think Ray Rice is a "good guy"?

Ehh experience is a plus. But like art and science some are gifted and inclined at forecasting athletic roofs and potential. As some are gifted at science(automotive and electronics). And art like drawing music and poetry. Some are naturals. Like the next great innovative offensive mind. Ravens need the next great athletic talent evaluators with a mixture of experience. Not that I’m an nfl caliber evaluator. But often I can make a better judgement on limited tape. Than if I watch a lot of tape on the same player.

Oh I agree that we shouldn’t just change the philosophy willy nilly but we are obviously suffering at the top scouting level at the moment... bisciotti acknowledged that and I think it’s important that it’s addressed

True but at the same time Joe Douglas and others didn't start off as senior scouts. At some point the general manager has to give some of the younger scouts a chance . Of course the way The Ravens lost scouts for the past two years is capable of hurting the scouting department but I get them wanting to have more home grown cast of scouts.

Of course - it’s about balance - at the moment we haven’t got a huge amount of experience in our scouting group because we’ve almost religiously promoted internally but guys were getting pinched from us quicker than we could elevate them

It’s the ravens way (or at least it was) to nurture talent but it’s clear that all of our experience is almost unanimously contained in the top 3 guys

True. I honestly don't hear often about teams scouting department getting poached often like The Ravens did but it all started with Joe Douglas.

You guys know I like teasing you a bit. I hope you don't mind it. Anytime I take a jab at the Ravens remember it is just a joke lol. Your fanbase has a solid sense of humor lol.
