Like Harbaugh is the common denominator, but then again, he only has some input into the players we draft, and he's not directly responsible for individual WR development. We've had two GMs, neither of which has done well drafting WRs, and we've had countless WR coaches, offensive coordinators, etc. I can't point to any single one of them that was outstanding in that area.

tbf we were awful at drafting WRs before Harbs too - Billick's reign was pretty terrible for WR drafting too

so the only common denominator is the "Ravens" lol

it's the same thing ive been saying for multiple years now (probably getting boring at this point the amount of times ive repeated it)

we just haven't picked enough receivers - if we think of the draft as a lottery then to expect success we have to buy enough tickets - at almost every position we take multiple shots with high picks on a regular basis except WR (until 2019)

we've taken as many WRs in the first 2 days the last 2 years as we had the previous 12...

we have to keep taking WRs if we want good players at that position
Agreed. If we leave day 2 without a WR I think we’re gonna be sweating. I think this might be the year we trade back, I think we’re gonna make at least 3 picks in the first 3 rounds, right now we’re scheduled to make 2. OL and WR feel like they would be the FOs priority.

1. Just to clarify... hiring Kubiak was Harbaugh's idea. The terrible journalism that started that conspiracy theory literally had to write a retraction in their own paper saying what they reported wasn't true.
Also fun fact... Kyle Shanahan was interviewed for that job.
2. My problem is... why aren't these receivers just going elsewhere and playing great? Like that list is almost non-existent. Its pretty much Darren Waller and nobody else. Like we've got a lot of draft picks that have come and gone through here at the WR position, and almost none of them have panned out. Not only have they not panned out here... they haven't panned out anywhere. So either they're just perpetually getting bad coaching, OR, they're just not very good. And it would logically seem that not every Ravens receiver gets bad coaching for the rest of his life... those kinds of odds are just far too unrealistic to be a reality.

The answer is the same answer its been for many years... these receivers aren't any good AND the Ravens coaches aren't any good at maximizing their talents.
Well.... all fair points lol, no arguments, maybe we flat out suck at picking them lol.

I almost believe that we forum posters can spot a good wr before the ravens can lmao
I think it’s clear that when we like a WR we should use that as a barometer to not draft them and go with a WR we apparently hate. This is the way.

Tbf Joey they're mainly looking at their blocking and special teams abilities.

Smfh you’re not lying either. Nothing makes me cringe harder than seeing the ravens draft a shit project wr and talk about them competing for ST in the pressers

i can see the logic to asking project WRs to compete on special teams because it gives them a chance to stick on the roster while they develop

it makes less sense right now because 2 of our WRs mostly played on special teams this year (duvernay and proche) and 1 of our WRs made his biggest impacts as a special teamer/downfield blocker...

and one of the other guys at the position (who's a free agent now - chris moore) is a special teams specialist

that's 4 guys offering almost nothing on offence - that's too much lol - now hopefully duvernay and proche can transition into impacting the offence but we can't rely on that leap

I know this is going to sound crazy, but give me Racey McMath at the end of the draft or as a UDFA. That dude has Matthew Slater potential on STs.

haha i just got to him on my list

that is 100% a made up name lol

he's great on special teams - like maybe one of the best college special teamers ive seen (not that i spend a lot of time analysing the minutiae of college special teamers especially given the rules are much different now) - but that skillset will get him drafted somewhere most likely

but my word he is a god-awful receiver prospect lol - he has no reason to be that bad haha

Oh yeah absolutely on all accounts lol. Name value and ST value while being a shitty WR = a sure fire Ravens prospect

id put Whop Philyor and Tutu Atwell up there for best names in the WR class too but both those are nicknames (whop because he loved burger king lol and Tutu is his dad's nickname which he got too...)

Dez Fitzpatrick gets the award for least original WR name ever

Josh Imatorbhebhe gets the award for hardest to spell

and Dazz Newsome gets the award for most appropriate name (dude's a quick slot guy and his first name is Dazz lol)

but not sure anyone can compete with Racey McMath who 100% sounds like the Boaty McBoatface of WRs

You know, JJ, you can always follow him.

JJ to the Ravens confirmed. Another one we have spoken into existence, brother. Time to cross Robinson off the list now.

tbf this is what Ed's saying - i just dont see how he gets an NFL DC job without at least first taking on a DB/secondary positional role

he could potentially do a Deion and get a HC type job with a jackson state equivalent but im not sure what else he's gonna get

he seemingly hasnt coached since 2016 i think albeit he's been "on staff" at miami for a few years
