Checking out 2020 “too-early” mock drafts. See a lot of tua to the bengals. Please god no. I would throw up.
The thing is that you’ve still got a lot of first round caliber talent WRs that have very high ceilings in the first round of the draft. Jerry may be the best, but what is the real difference vs. selecting Odell Beckham Jr. at 4 and Mike Evans at 12. Honestly ODB, talented as he is(and he’s obviously a stud) isn’t that much better than Evans to the point where Bucs fans are shaking their fists and cursing the wind. They’re very different types of players obviously, but what’s the value. I’d obviously take a healthy Beckham over Evans, but if I have Mike I’m not going “damn, we need another WR”He is going to be out of our reach this season
I'm aware that next years WR draft class could be along the lines as the 2014 WR draft class. I was only responding to a post. The thing is that you’ve still got a lot of first round caliber talent WRs that have very high ceilings in the first round of the draft. I like Jerry enough but to me, and this is my opinion, Green and Julio are still the cream of the crop talent wise this decade. You’ve obviously had players develop into more polished and/or talented WRs, but I’m strictly talking coming out of school. I liked Deandre Hopkins a lot too, but I don’t think anyone envisioned him becoming the best WR in football for example. A possible pro bowler? Yeah, thought he could be that with those hands, but best in the game? This is where coaches come into play.
Jerry more along the lines of being a higher tier prospect rather than my highest grade, but I’m not gonna put him at the highest grade that I can. And my grade compared to Collin Johnson, Laviska, Cece, etc. Isn’t that much better to the point where I’d sell the farm either.
We’d have to pick top 5 to get him, but even if I have my doubts about this season(and believe me, I do), I’m not sure he’d be the best fit with Jackson, nor would he be a “can’’t miss” guy in my eyes. He’s good, very good, but not a a guy like Megatron who was the top player in that class and it wasn’t close.
Jerry is a hell of a talent... But with how top heavy the WR class is, it’s not like we’re missing enough to want to sell the farm. That’s the last thing I want us to do. Very few prospects I would’ve done that for over the past ten years.
For this team I’d take mike Evans over Beckham, ODB Before his head got too pumped up maybe not, but mike Evans is a different breed, and I didn’t like him at all in the draft and thought Odell Beckham was gonna be the nfls best receiver, but for this team mike Evans would be a dream fit.The thing is that you’ve still got a lot of first round caliber talent WRs that have very high ceilings in the first round of the draft.
