Training Camp and the Preseason

Nothing would make me happier than to see Lamar prove all the haters wrong this season. So tired of hearing how "he can't throw" or "he's just a RB". Just wait and see, you ignorant turds.

I enjoyed this a lot - damn near broke the DB's ankles! I know a lot of you are high on this guy.

Edit: wrong link! Meant to post this one:

(I'll leave Boykin there for you all to enjoy anyway)
Please keep that coming! wow...See the way Boykin is able to lean into (or out toward the sideline) on the route before his cut? nice.
and Wesley...that dude is so crafty...I was sold on him as different in the seeing of one comeback he ran in college....rare for college...thanks again

add in that slight head fake as he closes the space to the sideline and he creates so much room for himself when he makes that cut - he sells that post route so hard with an economy of movement

if wesley makes the team as i hope he does he's going to have to do it via special teams and being the 6th receiver - same deal for jaleel scott as well - they're bigger bodies who arent traditional special teams body types

its promising that it seems both have had chances at gunner this offseason

at the moment for all intents at purposes it looks to me like our wr starters going into preseason 1 are Willie Snead and seth roberts but Boykin is doing his best to change things there

Maybe they're big enough to play the OT position on the punt S.T. TEs mostly play this but this year we're lacking a 4th TE which could open up a spot for a WR

Wesley doesn't at first look like a guy you'd see screaming downfield and making a play. We'll get a look Thursday I reckon. Wesley might make himself too risky to let go if he shows up in preseason.

And that play did it for me too, I’m Wesley’s number one fan and I stand firm that he’s gonna make a lot of teams look stupid for passing on him. I’m just really hoping we aren’t the team that looks stupid

Hearing about Lamar’s start today and seeing numbers to back it up, oh my god I can’t wait.

The league straight up is NOT ready to see Lamar completing 60-65% with a 2:1 ratio, they just arent.

We’re gonna find out soon but everything I’ve seen so far including live practice and videos, leads me to believe that he’s gonna shock the world.

I was going to say based off these practices and what I've seen, the Jags defense looks to be in trouble.

Ravens defence apparently also not so hot today at times - did more than the jags but also had a few blown coverages
Defense is always at a disadvantage in training camp, MAJOR disadvantage, pressure in the pocket, run defense, pass breakups, and press coverage just don’t bring the same impact.

Would have a really hard time believing either of these units aren’t top 5, Jacksonville still has top tier talent across the board, IMO second only to the chargers, and the ravens are up there as well along with being the best coached defense in the league

How do you think earl will fit. You think can run the defense like weddle? I mean im sure he can but he is used to basic math, this is calc 2 what we running over here

I think that’s overplayed. I don’t think he’s gonna be running any defense, weddle did that because he had a specific talent(mental) and what he did with that talent was cover his athletic deficiencies. Earl Thomas more than likely is going to be playing a lot of freelancing and flexible zones based on what he sees. I think Jefferson is gonna he asked to handle a lot more of that weddle duty and likely play that robber/enforcer role with strict assignments within 15 yards of the LOS.

Just a guess though, winks defense is a very multiple front and relies on man coverage and disguises, but it will always work best when you can just trust one safety to handle shit deep, comfortably giving yourself that extra defender(Jefferson) up front makes all things work better. Last year weddle and Jefferson both had shortcomings in the deep game so they NEEDED disguising.
