Ravens Trade News: Marcus Peters, etc...

Bennett IMO should be removed from these lists ... I don't believe the Pats would make that trade right in front of a head-to-head contest with us.

4 big considerations in making this trade are impact on 2019, draft cost, cap hit and future viability

Kerrigan doesnt seem appealing to me, as the draft cost is high, cap hit is high and not much future viability Beasley is realistic because of low draft cost and cap hit (if Falcons eat some contract) but I know many on this board don't think he'd be a big help. Leonard is too big of a cap hit and will require a lot of draft capital

Yannick feels like the right choice. We'd be giving up significant draft capital, but not a truckload. If this guy is all that people say he is then I think a 2nd and a future late rounder would be worth it and he won't require us to restructure or trade/release a player of value. It would strike a sweet spot between the astronomical cost of a guy like Ramsey and the other more bargain basement options.

So we knew the pats would sign him, and I can't believe we thought it would be consequential given the timing of our game with them.
Yeah - I groused a bit initially, but if we lose to the Pats, I'm pretty sure it won't be because Bethel gave them some critical intel

I agree with everything that you said. I don't want Kerrigan or Beasley and Bennett won't be traded to us. Yannick is my guy and for a 2nd and 4th round pick, as long as we extend him is the right choice. Especially at his cost.

I see a lot of calls for Yannick Ngakoue, word from Jacksonville fans is he still cant set the edge which isnt surprising because hes small at 6'2" 246. We wouldn't be able to start him.

he's never been an edge setter and never will be. He's what we hoped tim williams could become

Kerrigan is the perfect player for us TBH ( for our D and how we run our system) High football IQ, can set the edge etc

He's a high energy guy, but he's 31 years old. I'm not saying that's old, but Yannick is much younger. Cap considerations are why we wouldn't be able to trade for him. That and the rumor that Snyder is asking for too much.

Ngakoue's run defense is ok, he may not be great, but he's not bad either. It's his pass rushing that we need badly.

Thats exactly why it doesnt work unless we trade for him as a specialist. Teams would run over Yannick like earlier in the season when we would sub in Bowser and Williams.

I'd only trade for yannick if an extension was in place.
I would agree. If you're going to trade a 2nd round pick, you better have the extension in place. That being said, players like Kerrigan or ones that cost more than we have in cap space. The only players we can restructure would be ones that wouldn't make sense because we have restructured them three times in the past, ie. Tony Jefferson and Brandon Williams.

so still 2 roster spots to fill and no sign yet of who it is we're getting - you'd expect us to want the player in baltimore by monday so that they can practice on tuesday (+ we wont want them to play this sunday either) so realistically any trade likely happens before saturday when teams can no longer add players to their 53 before they play sunday

that's 3 days to get a deal done

and if no deal gets done then it likely means we're elevating guys from the practice squad (or activating guys from i/r like imam marshall)

i can't see iman being activated unless the FO feel a guy like averett just doesn't have it and cut him to free up another extra spot.

frankly, averrett dont have it

he's also 25 years old in a few weeks and was an older prospect coming in.

Wasn’t iman Marshall reported to be dumpster juice in camp?

he hardly played in camp because of injury - he was put on the initial 53 man roster so that he could return at some point if we needed him - not saying that's what's happening or that we should or will do that but obviously the ravens have seen enough that they gave themselves the option to bring him back

sadly this frame of thinking seems to fall in-line with Ravens coaches these days. The one compromise was Dumervil. We can & have found a million edge setters none of them developed into double digit sack artists.
It just feels like the staff gets obsessed with either moving guys around or them being edge-setters. By the time the team deems them worthy of significant playing time it’s contract time.

kruger, McPhee, z.smith , Correa, Bowser & T.Williams.
* C.Upshaw played immediately great edge-setter zero pass rush ( no fan love ever)
*Judon played quite a bit early on and continued to.
**Mcphee had excellent rookie year injuries and position changes stunned his early development
