Next Up: @ Bills

I would’ve agreed with you up until this season. I think you have Gilmore and Humphrey in their own class of elite and the rest of the corners in the league are under them

Hump still allows far too many receptions for my liking. He doesn't have tre whites fluidity.

The last game did not leave a good taste in my mouth. I'm gonna chalk it up to the weather and whatever truth there is I hope there's good coaching material for it to be fixed before the playoffs. Bills aren't a push over, but if we game plan correctly it'll be comfortable. They've played literally nobody this year and still have 3 losses. I know they're at home and it'll be cold, but I'm not worried at all. 31-13 Ravens.

How so? We beat the 2nd best team in the league in a possible SB preview and showed that we can win in a close, grind-it-out type of game.

I think the Bills, talent wise are underrated as hell. They're really talented.

and yes, I'd still have taken tre white over humphrey but i'm happy with humph.
I agree, but think we win by two touchdowns, if the weather is ok.

he has been lining up in the slot alot to take out other teams top receivers and this is a very difficult position. He's definitely better on the boundary. Tre White has only had 29 slots in the slot and 672 on the boundary. Humphrey has shadowed the teams best receiver and this week it was Kittle for the most part. He has had 368 snaps in the slot and 307 on the boundary. He does give up less receptions on the boundary than he does in the slot.

Assignment football is the buzz word you hear week after week. Play gap sound is another cliche we hear as well. Have a spy that can follow Lamar and seal the edge is the third. All recipes created by America's worst cooks.

the problem with playing assignment football and being gap sound etc. is that it completely forgets 2 factors: 1) part of our offence forces you to make a decision where you are always going to make the wrong one and if you dont make a decision you're also going to be wrong - the only way to stop that aspect is to hope that lamar isnt reading his keys right 2) even if you're in position lamar can still beat you in the running game and has shown a knack for manipulating dbs in the passing game too

ryan clark had the best point about spies a few weeks ago - if you spy lamar then you're just wasting a player on defence because no spy is going to be able to keep up with him and you're basically taking a man away from your defence

the 49ers showed the formula for slowing down lamar is 2-fold - have first round picks (and other high picks) all over your front 7 so that there's no weak spot in your defensive front and hope the conditions are right also to limit the offence's ability to be expansive

Players have to even realize they’re the key before they can make a decision, I haven’t seen it much this year, but last year we had Lamar taking options up the middle and GASHING teams with it, meaning he made the Mike the key, so when the Mike spreads to crash the sweep Lamar is gone for 20+. When you are making a key of each edge and an inside defender as well, you’re forcing defenders to stop and identify themselves before they can even make a decision, by that time Lamar has already made his read.

it makes defenders either wrong or passive and if they're passive then they're wrong also - it's so effective

I suppose this is movable target. Every late season Ravens game has a chance (unless we play vs Rudolph, Flacco or Baker).

Had the Browns won today, all we needed was a win to clinch the division. Now? We need to win THIS game and the following one against the Jets to clinch regardless of what the Steelers do or don't do.

Haven't been concernced with the division since the Patriots win. All it has been about is the top seed. I couldn't care less about what wild card spot those peasants fight for. Since beating the Niners the goal is very attainable. Also, I hope we beat the Browns by 40.

Now that we have an offense teams fear I only hope we can sustain it this year and beyond. It’s why I am open to drafting a WR high this year if one presents themselves there when we draft or near us so we can trade up to get them. I think we just need one more speedster like Brown who can spread teams out and perhaps a workhorse like McCaffery if a freak like that even comes out again. If we had McCaffery and Jackson on the same team we’d be unstoppable. Obviously we don’t have a shot at a guy like that but it would be great to stay ahead on that front and constantly evolve the offense to be unstoppable.

With respect to grinding out tough wins against good teams, I feel good. However, I just feel like we played a pretty bad game on defense and a mediocre game with inopportune turnovers on offense. I was in no way expecting a blowout, but I did expect to say following the game, I think we're the better team. Idk I could be overreacting bit I'm not sure if say that. I definitely have a bad feeling about playing them again if it comes to that.

Well put it like this. We went up against the 2nd ranked rush offense and the 2nd highest scoring offense. Surely the gashed us, but at the end of the day, they only put up 3 measly points in the 2nd half which came off our lone turnover.

Surely that makes you feel better - with neither unit operating properly we still managed to win against one of the best 3 teams in the NFC (if not the best) - and in the tricky conditions if Lamar doesn’t have that miracle turnover then the game probably isn’t close because we were driving with a lead
