Per Tom Pelliserro:

"Not only was #Browns QB Baker Mayfield fined $12,500 for his comments on officiating, #Rams LB Clay Matthews and #Lions DB Tracy Walker were also fined $12,500 for the same offense, I'm told. A message from the NFL amidst mounting criticism in locker rooms and elsewhere."

all the nfl are doing here is souring relations even more - they probably should be doing some self-reflection about why the players are almost unanimously unhappy with the officiating rather than 'sending a message' - as if that somehow protects the integrity of their game

Clay Matthews sent out a tweet about the officiating and called out Al Riveron and got the same damn fine as Baker. Just downright ridiculous the NFL stands with their crooked officials even when it's obvious they are wrong.

Its truly against freedom of speech.

As much as I despise the fact that players can't criticize the sorry-ass refs, it's actually NOT against it all. Freedom of speech doesn't equate to freedom of consequence.
This might be technically correct but at the same time it puts NFL on Kim Jong Il level. All of America is talking about awful officiating and instead of listening and doing something to improve it, they choose to say "Fuck you all, pay up."

The only way they don't have a right is if they're contractually liable which they may be. If so then there should be no interviews since there is so much passion involved with the game.

PATRICK MAHOMESQB, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Patrick Mahomes (knee) is facing a 3-5 week absence.
Mahomes suffered a grim-looking knee injury in Thursday night's win over Denver, though his MRI revealed minimal damage outside of his dislocated knee cap. Per Rapoport, Mahomes "stretched" his ligaments, but nothing was torn. The possibility of surgery, even in the offseason, has yet to be discussed as Mahomes is confident he can return for either Week 11 against the Chargers (that will be a Monday night game in Mexico City) or after Kansas City's Week 12 bye. Matt Moore is tentatively expected to start in Mahomes' place, though Chad Henne (ankle) could be in that mix as well once he returns from injured reserve.

It’s good to hear that it’s not a more serious injury.

FARMINGTON, Pa. —
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Anthony Chickillo was arrested over the weekend, charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment.

A law enforcement source tells Pittsburgh's Action News 4 the alleged incident involves Chickillo's girlfriend and that it occurred at Nemacolin.

Chickillo was arrested by Uniontown Pennsylvania State Police and arraigned this morning. According to the court docket, a $10,000 unsecured bail has been set, and he has a Preliminary Hearing scheduled for October 30.

Steelers Director of Communications Burt Lauten tells Pittsburgh's Action News 4"We are aware of an incident involving Anthony Chickillo last night and are still gathering information. Until we have further details we will not provide any further comments."

DREW BREESQB, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Drew Brees (thumb) plans to resume practicing this week.
Brees has resumed throwing and appears to be in the final stages of his recovery from last month's thumb surgery. The future Hall of Famer "hopes" to return against the Cardinals in Week 8 but wouldn't fully commit, telling ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett "we'll see" based on how the week unfolds. The Saints have yet to lose with Teddy Bridgewater under center (5-0) and have a bye scheduled for Week 9. Brees and fellow offensive juggernaut Alvin Kamara (ankle/knee) both appear to be eyeing Week 8 returns, though New Orleans may opt to play it safe by keeping them out through the bye week.

  • ADAM THIELENWR, MINNESOTA VIKINGS

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it's "hard to imagine" Adam Thielen (hamstring) playing against the Redskins in Week 8.
By all accounts, Thielen's hamstring injury doesn't appear to be a major setback, though he won't have much time to recover with Minnesota back to work Thursday night against the Redskins. The short turnaround obviously works against Thielen and the Vikings probably won't need him playing at home against a lesser opponent. Perhaps Thielen will receive good news from Monday's MRI but Rapoport still believes there's a "real possibility" he sits this one out. If he does, it would be his first career absence.

  • ROBERT QUINNDL, DALLAS COWBOYS

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Robert Quinn's rib injury suffered in Week 7 is thought to be minor.
He's in the same boat as teammate Leighton Vander Esch (neck), who is also expected back after the Cowboys' Week 8 bye. Quinn has had a resurgent year in Dallas, ranking among the league leaders in sacks with six takedowns in only five appearances.

  • O.J. HOWARDTE, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Patriots inquired about O.J. Howard but were told he's not available.
Howard would make an incredible amount of sense for the Patriots, who have yet to find an adequate replacement for retired tight end Rob Gronkowski. The 2017 first-rounder has yet to click in Bruce Arians' offense, but was excellent a year ago, leading the position in yards per reception (16.6) while also showing promise as a blocker. Joining forces with Tom Brady in New England would no doubt come as a major boost to Howard's stagnant fantasy stock, though unfortunately for all of us, it doesn't appear the Bucs will entertain that possibility.

  • MATT RYANQB, ATLANTA FALCONS

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Matt Ryan is believed to be dealing with a sprained right ankle.
Ryan departed in a walking boot Sunday and will head for further tests Monday, which should confirm his sprained ankle. Per Rapoport, the injury is something Ryan can "manage," suggesting he could be available for Week 8. If he guts it out against the Seahawks this week, Ryan would then have the Falcons' Week 9 bye to get healthy. Journeyman Matt Schaub replaced Ryan after his exit Sunday against the Rams. That was the Falcons' fifth straight defeat.

  • ANTHONY CHICKILLOLB, PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Steelers LB Anthony Chickillo was arrested Sunday morning on charges of simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.
Chickillo's arrest occurred Sunday morning at 1:40 AM local time at the Lady Luck Casino in Farmington, Pennsylvania. Police allege the Steelers linebacker got into a heated argument with his girlfriend (who was cited for harassment), resulting in a physical altercation in their hotel room. Chickillo was arraigned shortly after and released on $10,000 bail. "We are aware of an incident involving Anthony Chickillo last night and are still gathering information," Steelers Director of Communications Burt Lauten said in a statement. "Until we have further details we will not provide any further comments." The Steelers were on bye this week.

  • LEIGHTON VANDER ESCHLB, DALLAS COWBOYS

Leighton Vander Esch's neck injury is believed to be a stinger.
Vander Esch didn't return to Sunday night's game after his injury but felt that he could have. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Vander Esch should be fine to take the field when the Cowboys return from their upcoming bye week. Robert Quinn, who bowed out with a rib injury Sunday night, is also not expected to miss time.

  • MATT RYANQB, ATLANTA FALCONS

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Matt Ryan (ankle) will undergo an MRI on Monday, but that the Falcons do not believe his injury is serious.
Ryan was spotted in a walking boot, but those are often precautionary. Ryan was having a difficult time dragging himself to the locker room as he departed on Sunday. The fact that an MRI is required at all signals some degree of worry. Even if Ryan gets his expected good news, Week 8 could be a challenge, especially with the 1-6 Falcons headed on bye for Week 9.

  • JASON WITTENTE, DALLAS COWBOYS

Jason Witten had four catches for 33 yards in Week 7 against the Eagles.
The Cowboys got Witten going early but he was held out of the end-zone for the fifth straight game. Witten has been playing better of late, getting at least four catches in three of the last four games. Witten will take a 26/263/2 line in the Cowboys’ Week 8 bye.

ELI APPLEDB, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

According to Nick Underhill of The Athletic, the "initial belief" is that Eli Apple suffered a hyperextended knee in Sunday's Week 7 victory over the Bears.
Apple will undergo more tests Monday, though it looks like he avoided a major injury. The Saints are reportedly hosting free agent CB Kayvon Webster (who went to training camp with the team this summer), a sign that Apple could be in danger of missing Week 8.

KAREEM HUNTRB, CLEVELAND BROWNS

Kareem Hunt will resume practicing Monday.
Hunt isn't eligible to return from suspension yet, though the league permits him to resume practicing two weeks prior to being activated. The former rushing champ, who has spent much of the past two months recovering from sports hernia surgery, is on track to make his Browns debut against Buffalo in Week 10. He's expected to back up Nick Chubb, who trails only league-leader Dalvin Cook, Christian McCaffrey and Leonard Fournette in rushing yards per game.

BAKER MAYFIELDQB, CLEVELAND BROWNS

Baker Mayfield (hip) practiced Monday.
He played through a bruised hip in Week 6 but had last week's bye to rest. Mayfield should be under center for Sunday's game in New England, though the slumping sophomore could be in for a rough day against a Patriots defense that has been among the league's best.

Texans trade Third Round Pick to the Raiders for former first round pick CB Gareon Conley.

Do they have any draft picks left at this point?
