or more likely - he's just seen a guy be accused by 22 women of sexual misconduct and assault, not play football for a year, get traded away from his first team and sign the biggest aav deal in NFL history and have it fully guaranteed
he knows that even if he gets injured, he's going to get paid - the only direction his price can and will go is up
i dont get why people have such a hard time understanding what he's doing here - the longer he waits, the bigger the deal will eventually be either because more massive QB deals get done and increase the price, or because the salary cap increases (which it will) and increases the price, or because he gets franchise tagged once or even twice and that sets the baseline of his next deal which increases the price
the only thing he loses out on is the immediate dividend from signing a contract that big - but he's gonna get 23m this year anyway so i imagine he's ok waiting
