Realizing Liverpool shouldnt have even made it through the group stage is pretty ridiculous. Napoli were inches from winning the group and knocking them out. Smh

Storybook stuff, great win for the Reds. Spurs fighting hard to try to make it an all Premier League final.

That and we’ll never see this Ajax team again

they were poor imitations of their early 90's team ( a legit youth movement). De Ligt is legit ( no pun intended) but to compare to the talents of davids and seedorf along with the guile of litmanen was never fair.

they beat a world class milan team ( albeit minus a soon to be retired van basten) and deserved it in 95

Poor imitations?

They played by far the best football throughout this year's CL. Experience, lack thereof, is what cost them.

I'm just saying they aren't as good as the Ajax youth movement of the early 90's. ( not even close). That Ajax team was not experienced ( outside of danny blind, Rijkaard and silooy).

Their '70s team, however....

fantastic

3rd best team ever behind Milan late 80's, early 90's and Barcelona 2009-2011

Arie Haan, Cruyff, Neeskens, Krol, Suurbier, Rep etc

it's a different era of football - the ajax teams of the 90s would never be able to exist nowadays

actually it was a rather modern team. Guys like Seedorf and Davids would have been great players in any era. Marc Overmars too etc

Arguable on the rankings but they were incredible. Dutch national team pretty much, that should have won WC in Germany. Watched Ajax live at European Champions Cup final vs Juve. Was just a kid then but remember that day very well. Celebration with crazy Ajax fans on main town square, too.

Also Hulshoff. Never forget Barry Hulshoff!

that Juve team was no joke. Benetti was a monster (furino was no pansy either) and Causio was as good of a right winger in the world at the time and bettega was coming into his own. Having said that, they were an aging side and were stronger a few years later with the likes of Tardelli, Scirea, Gentile,Cabrini and co.

Yes, they were favorites vs west Germany but let's not act like it was such a massive upset. Germany had world-class players too and were reigning European champions and the host nation.

Ahh yes...good ol hulshoff!

edit: Benetti wasn't there yet. Still at Milan. If he was, it might have been a different result.

I was hoping for a Liverpool win AND a Brighton win, but I don't see Brighton scoring another goal to tie the game. FUCK!
