The Random Thought Thread

if i was only talking about stats then all sorts of other guys would be on this list
garrett wilson flashed, a week after barely impacting a game

if we count garrett wilson then we probably have to count drake london, kyle hamilton, jordan davis and a bunch of other rookies who've played well in fits and starts but not been consistent yet
I think garret wilson will be consistent.. just from our game alone, you can tell he has it and he didnt even do much

i think its just too much for hamilton to handle at once.. i think we should give him few responsibilities first then go from there.. let him play around the los so he can get comfortable with this nfl style.
I think there's some level of merit to this. Not that the positions are super comparable, but I look at what Dallas did with Micah Parsons last year to some extent. They tried to make him into a do-it-all type of guy at LB and he looked like garbage, and then they just told him to go get the QB and he exploded. Now, S has a lot more responsibility in general so can't just completely absolve him of responsibilities, but I wouldn't be surprised if they lessened the load a bit and let him get comfortable. He's clearly a smart guy but they've put a lot of pressure on him in a ton of different roles in his short career so far.

I say just put him at rush LB.

that's kind of my point - there's a bunch of guys who werent on that list who are going to be effective playmakers and some of them will even become stars - but the vast majority of those guys have only flashed so far

idk that they've moved him around that much - he's mainly had 3 responsibilities so far - deep safety, covering the flats and some catch-man coverage in the slot mostly against TEs

obviously havent seen any all-22 yet from yesterday but i cant imagine his role was that different this week and i think that's why he's mostly played pretty well (despite what some on social media and in this forum would tell you) - he just happened to have the wrong call on 1 play that led to a bust and played a post route wrong on another - and those 2 plays largely are prejudicing peoples's opinions of him fairly or unfairly...

he's played 80 snaps so far and people are going to largely focus on 2 of them

Harbaugh said back in preseason that they’ve been throwing the book at him and asking him to do a lot of different things

ah ok fair enough
i just more meant in terms of what we've seen him be asked to do but i guess that's a good point that what they've actually asked him to do in week 1 and 2 might not be all the responsibilities and complexities that they've put on him

I didn’t know where to post this question so I thought I would just do it here. Many of you members are a lot smarter with the X’s and O’s than I am. I guess it is more me seeking information than asking a specific question.

The Ravens are one of the few teams that carry a traditional fullback and Ricard is a decent one. With our run game struggling, why are we not using him like we used to back in the day with our other great fullbacks? Back in the day they crashed the line doing 99 to let them running backs roll! Ricard is a big SOB, why not let him barrel forward for a yard instead of Davis? It seems to me every once in a while they may use Ricard to do a little QB protection at times and then he may slip out for a dump off pass. We can just use a big TE for that...right?

Why have a fullback if you are not going to use him? And if you really don’t use him, why waste a draft pick and a practice squad stop on Ben Mason? If our running game is so terrible why not put Ricard in and see if he can earn his bread and butter? It just makes no sense to me. I guess I am just a dinosaur, living in the “I” formation days. Sorry about all the questions in this post but can someone please help me understand all this? I am so confused!

Trevor Lawrence sucks ass too
I won’t tell my wife you said that….lol! My wife loves Clemson and thinks he is awesome. For her, Saturday’s are all about the Clemson games and Sunday is all about her Steelers, except for their bye week. I had to buy my wife a Jags Trevor jersey for to wear during the bye week!

I'm so sorry.
