The Random Thought Thread

no guarantee nothing will come of it
but what is definitely guaranteed is that if this does happen it's not happening until after our season's over

so all those wishful thinkers hoping this might lead to a midseason exit, are not going to get their wish
I think we all know it's not going to lead to a midseason exit, more so it would mean a new change for next year. I just don't think Harbaugh has it in him to fire him, I think Steve & Eric are going to have say, fire Greg or we fire you. I get that it does seem the offensive struggles are finally getting to him as he said his patience is running thin, but we know how he has been with previous coordinators and his inability to fire them before it's too late.

If they are serious, they must hire GRo immediately. He ought to start with Stanford recruiting ASAP.

Really good look at the Chiefs' passing scheme and why their numbers are still up when a lot of other passing games are faltering. It makes me really want to see what Lamar could do in an offense like this. Even with a relatively average WR corp they're still picking apart defenses with this game plan. Andrews, Duv, Bateman, and Likely would thrive in this type of offense.

that's never going to happen lol

people really think that Steve or EDC are going to tell Harbs what to do with his staff or give him some kind of ultimatum? no way in hell that happens and they wouldn't dream of doing it... there's a reason this organisation is well-respected and consistently competitive and it's because everyone works well together, trusts each other and doesn't overstep

Why exactly won't it happen until after the season? Not saying it won't, but I don't see why that's a guarantee. College programs usually want coaches in ASAP to get right to work on the recruiting trail. I definitely don't think a school like Stanford is going to announce they hire a coach and pay them millions and then be OK with them waiting potentially two months to start joining the program.

It's not exactly apples to apples, but when D1 programs poach coordinators from other schools, those coordinators leave immediately. We've seen coaches leave Alabama the week of FCS title/semi games before because they got hired by a new program. Those schools wouldn't even wait a week or two. Doubt they're going to wait a month or two.

iirc stanford has waited before
and it's different poaching guys from other colleges when their seasons are basically over (and the odd couple of times it happened to Bama before playoffs) and the NFL - you almost never see NFL coaches leaving to college before their season finishes

well I doubt you see a lot of NFL coordinators taking HC gigs in college to begin with, largely because I'm sure several of them feel its a downgrade in their career. Especially if its a high-end program, which I guess Stanford isn't.

Maybe they wait, but I don't see it. Going potentially two months without a HC isn't ideal for D1 programs. I think if Roman isn't willing to leave sooner rather than later, he just won't be a HC there then. Which is what I'd expect anyway. I'm sure he's one of several candidates.

Tua really makes Hill and Waddle go up for jump balls constantly. He's so often just throwing terrible balls. If he was stronger these passes would hit these guys in stride and be TDs. Instead they have to slow and fight for 50 50 balls. The craziest thing is those 2 little guys go up and get them. Like how?

That's what great receivers do. I live in South Florida and watch the games all the time. Tua is very inaccurate and routinely throws high or behind his receivers.

However it works, and those 2 get open almost at will

Broken record plays on

Greg Roman just showed how stupid he is. The issue isn't controlling the clock it's literally getting SET at the line with virtually no time for Lamar to read defenses and audible.

Your right Greg , Lamar punting the ball out of frustration is totally a treasure

So his assessment isn't wrong, i.e. the longer we hold the ball the less the other team has it, which is precisely what this team is doing.

BUT, he's dead wrong in the fact that his desire to do so is forcing his offense to be less efficient because they're rushing plays. It's one thing to get the play in with 20 seconds on the clock and have Lamar snap it at 2-3 seconds. That's not an issue. The issue is when the offense is rushing to the line and making mistakes because they don't have enough time to operate the play as they want to.

He can achieve both. He can get the plays in quicker AND control the clock. That's what they should be doing.
