Also, CB is a really interesting position heading into next year, but we still have a lot of talent there even if we don't retain Jimmy.

Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters, Tavon Young, Anthony Averett, Davontae Harris, Iman Marshall, Terrell Bonds, Khalil Dorsey would all still be under contract. Anthony Averett as a CB4 is still pretty damn good now that people have finally started to realize his value.

Now if you can upgrade, you absolutely do it, but we could certainly be a lot worse off. I think you absolutely have to try to pluck one of those slot guys in the mid rounds because they exist every year. But again, we're not that bad off. Tons of bad luck with injuries this year.

Not gonna go back and quote it because PPB went on a rampage, but if there is one place that I'd definitely try to upgrade the secondary, it's with a S/slot/playmaker should one be available. A Tyrann Mathieu or Budda Baker type if one exists. Elliott has been alright but there have definitely been some issues with him and I think he's best suited as a 3rd S going forward if you can upgrade. Having that chess piece that you can move around would be so big for this secondary. Marlon has kind of taken up that role to an extent, but if you can let him feast elsewhere, we'd be absolutely dominant.

yeah a nickel/safety hybrid - sort of akin to a joker (if you'll pardon the pun) role would do a world of good and would allow us to keep our "best" DBs on the field - would provide cover at multiple positions

and elliott definitely is someone I love in our dime packages but you're right im not sold on him entirely as a pure full-time starting safety - he's got the tools but I still think he's way too indecisive in coverage (something I thought he'd get better at) - there's certainly a role for him here but I don't think there's any threat of us re-signing him long-term once his contract's done (he only has 1 year left)

i think if you can re-up jimmy (and im not sure his free agency situation will be any different to how it was last year so I see no reason why he wouldnt just be back here but you never know) then you've got a solid group of 5 guys who you can rely on to take starter reps (when available) - Marlon, Peters, Tavon, Averett, Jimmy but there's 2 who you can't rely on to be available

there's options there on your list for bottom end of the roster guys but no one who'd upgrade the situation as it stands this year - we've been hit by injuries which obviously doesnt help but it's not entirely unpredictable given the fact that at least 2 of that group of 5 are notorious for not being available and healthy and it's definitely worth asking how long many of them will be around

grabbing a nickel somewhere in the mid-rounds (and I wish we'd done that in the 2020 class because there were 2 or 3 guys I really liked) would be a good idea just to allow us to not have to force Marlon into the slot (unless it's by choice because that's a favourable matchup)

Agreed. I think Elliott definitely does some good things, but it feels like when there's a bust in coverage, it's him. Now that could be completely off base, but just not as instinctual as I expected. Solid player but I absolutely think you can upgrade.

I will say though... that dude plays completely reckless. Odd seeing that in today's NFL. He's a tone setter at the very least.

And agreed here too. I don't think there will be any financial reason not to bring Jimmy back, especially if they can work him back into that hybrid S/CB role that he was unfortunately pulled out of because of injuries. Would think his market is similar if not worse because of his continued injuries.

You just need to find some cover for Tavon. I don't mind Humphrey in the slot but gotta work hard to find some actual depth there. Like you said, so many guys in the last draft class. Round 4 was such a bummer watching those guys get plucked off.

all the more reason to go get a slot corner - because it means that Jimmy stays in that hybrid role where he's a TE matchup nightmare who can also play press at the LoS and cover the deep middle - getting a slot means that if tavon goes down we have someone to cover for him and if one of the outside guys goes down averett's still there to cover and jimmy stays as the dime specialist (not dimebacker)

i cant say for sure because unless there's an obvious bust it's never truly clear what the call was but it seems to me that elliott second guesses himself too much when reading on the backend especially when left on his own back there - and it means he doesnt trigger when he should which means he's late

idk that he's messing up so much as he's being hesitant to react - which is equally problematic

and idk what kareem hunt did to elliott but he seems to have made it his mission this year to destroy hunt repeatedly - i think the 3 biggest hits he's laid on anyone this year have all been on hunt

I agree with all of this but I really want one of Robinson, JuJu or Golladay lol. Just want that #1 for Lamar
No Robinson & JuJu. Lamar needs a WR who catches the ball and doesn't fumble it. Robinson barely creates any separation. This is not what Lamar needs imho
I prefer Golladay or Godwin.
@purplepittabread88 no idea how you had the energy to type all that. I've been sleeping ever since finals ended.

Also, congrats on another semester.
Enjoy it while it lasts.

1) IOL
2) Receiver (either TE or WR or both)
3) EDGE
4) Swing Tackle
5) CB
I have absolutely no idea how stacked this upcoming draft class is and how deep it is at certain positions. But i'm not in favor of drafting a wr in the 1st, unless they let him play early and allow him to make mistakes. IOL or RT in the 1st sounds good to me. RT only if they plan to let Brown walk in FA. TE take too long to develop, that's why I prefer 3rd or later.

not sure about the class as a whole yet - barely just started looking at some prospects - ive got receiver high because our corps is probably a bottom 3 group in the league right now and if we want Lamar to grow as a passer then we do actually have to give him weapons to throw to

i put receiver rather than WR/TE because there's an awesome TE in this class Kyle Pitts (probably long gone before we pick) but he's the type of receiving talent that it doesnt matter what position you say he plays because he's a weapon - but yeah normally wouldnt be a fan of taking a TE high - he's probably the first one ill have had graded in the first round in many drafts

I’d absolutely love Golladay here but I doubt we can afford any of these guys

Had my second Ravens dream of the season. First was Ferguson punching a ref, that game Judon got ejected for touching a ref. This dream was Dobbins absolutely obliterated Jacksonville for 170 yards on the ground and 2 TDs. Hopefully that's somewhat accurate!

We lose this game, you're banned for posting your dreams AND you can spend the entire week in the PIT OF MISERY!

Assuming we win out (big ass IF):

-Raiders gotta beat Dolphins. Raiders defense is putrid so not happening. In recent history, Dolphins have Raiders number.
-Steelers gotta beat Colts. My hatred for the Steelers is too much to root for them. Rivers is an interesting one against the Steelers. Either he plays a very clean game against them OR he's a turrnover machine and their offense can't do jack shit.

-Bills gotta beat the Dolphins. Depends if Josh Allen plays or not.
-Steelers gotta beat Browns. Do the Steelers enact revenge and rest their starters in week 17?
