The Random Thought Thread

Well... he could just be better and put in more work.

Flacco was a goddamn SB MVP and consistently scared the whole afc every year because they knew if the ravens made the playoffs then there’s a good chance they gotta beat playoff joe to make it to the dance.

Why he decided to stop working to get better, and kinda just went about it like a 9-5 and went home and had another baby every week, is beyond me. I root for joe and hope for the best for him, but if he loses his job again it’ll be his fault.

Regards of Flacco treating it like it was a 9-5 and etc The Ravens could have did a better job with keeping stability offensively . Since Jim Caldwell departure Flacco was going through offensive coordinators back to back. Hard to keep stability that way especially if you not promoting within. I honestly think Gary Kubiak leaving really blew The Ravens away and it wasn't some thing John Harbaugh was prepared for. Rather Flacco stop trying or wasn't trying to improve on his skills on his ability as a quarterback doesn't change the fact that the offensive philosophy and system was a mess after Gary Kubiak left.

Fortunately if The Ravens end up being successful with Lamar Jackson as their quarerback they atleast have some ability to promote within if Greg Roman ends up getting a head coaching job in the near future.

Baltimore inability to hire an OC was a big issue for me considering how Flacco was.

Kubiak was a big blow and a big WHAT IF

Kaare Vedvik may be the real deal. His kicking was on point last preseason and he seems to have picked up right where he left off, and I am not just saying with fields kick goals and kick offs, this young man can punt. I am not saying he is better than Tucker or Koch, but I think Kaare has the potential to be just as good. He has good trade value, and I can see a team with a decent kicker and an average punter bringing Kaare in as a punter as an insurance policy for their field goal kicking. There may be a lot of reasons this would not be a good idea, but it seems to be a good idea to me as an armchair general manager. I also hope we don't regret trading him and if we don't get a decent trade offer, it is really going to suck.

Instability of the the OC and system was without a doubt a huge detriment, but how could Flacco not always excel given all of the offensive weapons the Ravens provided him.

I agree, we built great defenses, but did not seem to put the same effort into the offense.

To get more then a 7th or maybe a 6th, they are going to need multiple teams to bid him up. Otherwise, whatever team wants him can just wait the Ravens out as he is 100% getting cut if no trade happens

That will kill me, but I understand teams know that with Tucker and Koch here, we are going to have to release him.

The only nuance that gives you leverage (similar to the Lewis situation) is if we release him the team that wants him might not get him. Whereas a trade guarantees it. I agree that a bidding war is ideal, hopefully he continues to show out.

Funny story, one of my little sister’s friends used to date him. Apparently he’s a total space cadet lol.

$120mil to be a franchise qb though
Yeah but from everything spoken on that by SB, Joe, Linta.... it turned out he got paid for what he did, not for what the Ravens anticipated he'll bring in the future.

I don't know how he was before the contract but

- if he was working harder, then some switch flipped
- if he was the same, then the switch never turned on

That's, of course, unless Koch or Tucker sustain ACL injury during the camp.

You'll get value cuz kickers are points and you keep him off the free market. Kickers have been drafted in the 2nd rd and I believe you could get a 4th or a 5th easily.

It sucks the Bears did the Mack trade. I feel they would have been a top target to trade Vedvik but with all the picks missing they are less likely to do so I feel. The cardinals have to be licking their chops with that number one waiver order huh

This is another weird thing I am going to write, but does anyone else (idk how to say this just right but stay with me).

I guess-- not like when some players score or whatever? I mean don't get me wrong whenever we score I am super happy no matter what. But sometimes when I see a wr laying in the end zone and I'm waiting to hear the number or whatever I'm really hoping it isn't certain players.
This isn't fantasy based either and the more I type I know the weirder this seems.

Seth Roberts is the one for me now, I think a big part of it is I'm kinda a stat head and legacy person and it has really bothered me that we don't have a lot of offensive legacy players.

I mean cool if Seth scores, but I desperately want it to be Andrews racking up stats or maybe even Hollywood

It's always cool to see guys who don't score often celebrate but a big part of it is I know the celling of Seth Roberts. There isn't a chance he scores more than 4 tds for us ever.

Like when Ed Dickson would score I'd be sad it wasn't Pitta. When Bernard Piece got goal line carries I was upset it wasn't rice.

How Crazy do I sound lol

Me realizing I love football again after typing some of these things:))))
I had super small interest all summer for the first time since like 2nd grade with how much I had going on...
But IM BACK

Teams that drafted kickers in the 2nd all hated that pick and a lot of the GMs that have done it ended up fired (hi TB how you doing). Most teams do not actually draft kickers and if they do they do it in the 6th or 7th. I think last year one kicker went in the 5th but generally you do not draft kickers you sign them.

Nobody will offer a 4th for a player who 100% will get cut otherwise especially if that player is a kicker even with a bidding. As of right now a 5th is unlikely but maybe if you can create a bidding war and maybe have him hit a few huge kicks then maybe a team pays a little extra.

Im sure koch is retiring soon.. should keep vedik?

Yea I was thinking the same thing last year. Idk that's a tough one, also what if knock on wood Tucker has to miss some time? I mean this dude was the real deal holyfield last year until that embarrassing situation. Didnt know if he could bounce back or not. Looks like hes a fighter.
