2018 Free Agency

There is now an outrageous amount of pressure on Mike Maccagnan. Well, there always was, but now it’s crystallized. April 26 will be one of the most important days in recent Jets history.

The ideal situation for NYJ now is probably to sign both Bridgewater and McCown, with the latter as a No. 3 mentor - then to Draft QB of future at 6 - IDK what else the jets can do if they are looking for a veteran...

Is AJ McCarron the odd man out at the end of this game of musical chairs?
He spent the whole offseason trying to become a free agent and maybe it back fires and he has to take a low-octane deal

The Cardinals are signing QB Sam Bradford to a 1-year deal worth $20M, source said, with an option year at $20M.

so of the reported contracts in free agency
Cousins is expected to make just over 28m/yr
Keenum is expected to make around 18m/yr
and now bradford is expected to make around 20m/yr

the keenum move is the one i like the least based on those contract lengths and numbers

FA QBs are not cheap and never will be.

28 m is exactly what I told a friend he would end up getting.

I see them moving up in the draft to get whoever they like. I think Bills get Rosen after it's all set and done. I suspect Miami will end up with Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen will wind up a Jet and the Cardinals trade with the Browns at 4 to get ahead of the Broncos to snatch Darnold from the Broncos.

Just because I was correct doesn't mean I am happy about it. Where did I say in that post that I would be happy about Hurst when I've been a longtime advocate of letting him go. Just saying

“.....much needed O line depth with starting experience” doesn’t make it sound like you would be unhappy. lol

Not trying to yank your chain here as I also distinctly remember you didn’t care for Hurst, but also you remember you kinda came around when it became apparent he had improved.

Notice how I said “if they were going to draft a WR.”

I said this because they won’t. They will either go Oline, ILB, or trade up to take a QB in the first. I think they end up going ILB or Oline though. Probably TE in round 2.
 
$14M per year for Allen Robinson???? If you had a hard time giving Jarvis Landry that money who played every game of his career than you would surley be mistaken to give that kind of money to a guy who has had one great year and only half of your 4 years in the league actually spent on the feild......not sure im willing to pay WR1 money for that. Especially in Baltimore with our recent history of injuries.

I dont think you guys understand how much we are probably paying attention to players recent availabilty. It shows why we kept Hurst and Carr around. They're dependable.

Cutler was a huge problem last year, but Tannehill is much better. As much as I don’t really like him as a player, I think they need to roll with Tannehill who is serviceable, and build up the team around the QB before making a change at QB. No sense in trading everything for a QB when your offense is horrible.
