The 2021 Offseason Thread

arizona, seattle, NE, both games @cle, colts, titans WC, all felt like fairly clutch games from lamar, games where hes either going back and forth against an offense thats keeping us on the ropes, or is able to make enough plays vs a defense thats kicking our asses, i wouldnt say hes never appeared clutch, just that hes had 4 playoff games and looked bad in 3.
You are completely right. I mean just game ending drives he does have as much success but he doesnt have the same amount of opportunities. I meant a 2 minute drill need 4 points type deal.

Well there’s clutch, and then there’s this one specific scenario which doesn’t totally encapsulate what “clutch” is and is a pretty rare opportunity anyway lol.

We restructured Peters saving $3.5mil this year, huge breaking news

That restructure is gonna be used for extending or re-signing low dollar FAs, it’s already started with McPhee lololol.

I mean I don’t hate keeping McPhee, I just don’t see us doing much with that restructure especially considering we restructured and immediately re signed McPhee

I figured we would entertain Bozeman back at C. It makes a lot of sense to me. I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see us draft or sign an interior lineman to play G and us Bozeman’s familiarity with the offense and the position for a more seamless transition

As someone who said I’d trade Brown only if we got a crazy haul, no way I entertain it now that I hear Stanley had another surgery. I’d absolutely keep him here at this point. You can always trade him in October if that’s in the cards but I wouldn’t let him go now.
yes, but what kind of surgery was Stanley's 2nd surgery? If we know he's not going to be ready, I'd definitely agree, but if he is going to be available for training camp, than I still consider a trade for the right price.

Watch we sign jonnu smith
Swear to god I’ve been thinking we might fuck around and do that for the longest time

I like jonnu smith a LOT and he would be great here but I would be so pissed tf off if we made a big splash signing at TE of all positions.

make it work with andrews and Boyle for fucks sake. You shouldn’t need 3 TEs plus a fullback to make your offense functional.

we watched that rushing attack function with only eric tomlinson and Ricard - it can definitely function with Boyle, Tomlinson and Ricard...

Just seems like some shit we would do lol.

I mean, I wouldn't do it, but we do need pass catchers, and so if we can't get a decent wideout in FA, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to do.

I don't like it because it pretty much guarantees we're still just going to be a "middle of the field" passing attack, but like Jonnu isn't going to break anybodies bank, and it wouldn't preclude us from drafting a WR or two anyway. I would just rather see us use our cap resources elsewhere, personally.

Aside from re-signing our own guys I don't think we're going to see us signing anyone, especially someone close to 10 mil. This may be an offseason where teams think they're successful if they can run back a team even closely similar to the one they fielded last year.

Maybe. Based on the players I'm seeing getting cut, there's just no way all of these guys are going to be getting good deals in FA.

In most years, free agency is almost entirely overpaying good players. This year, I think you'll get some good, maybe even great players, at much cheaper prices.

I mean there's legitimately like 10 starting-caliber Guards on the market just in the last few days. They're not all going to go unsigned. There's certain teams, like Saints, Eagles, etc. who, yes, will be lucky to retain a roster of 53 and hope for the best, because they're just so screwed.

But I think there is and will continue to be a MASSIVE amount of cap restructuring and teams just pushing cap into the future, believing that they'll get a big boost the next year or two, which they probably will.

The Ravens are in the somewhat unfortunate position of not really having many contracts right now that can be restructured for much money, because the expensive one's are either new contracts, or expiring contracts.

the silver lining is it means we should have more cap space relative to a lot of the rest of the league again next year too which should allow us to do a couple of big extensions for Lamar and Andrews and maybe even Bozeman if we need to and still be in an ok position

Next year is going to suck for our FAs, so I hope we get started on a few now

Lamar Jackson
Mark Andrews
Bradley Bozeman
Pat Ricard
Gus Edwards
DeShon Elliott
Anthony Averett

Plus Jimmy Smith, Calais Campbell, and Brandon Williams, although they all could be looking at retirement.

Not all big money guys by any means, but not these cheap 1-year deal types either.

i fully expect Lamar, Andrews and Ricard to be done pretty easily in the end

depending on how bozeman does this year it's definitely possible we try and get a deal done with him but he may also walk

sounds like they've already been in discussions with Gus about potentially doing an extension but i can't imagine he or ricard will be particularly expensive

if i were averett i'd likely be wanting to test free agency to see if i can find somewhere that will let me start full-time/pay me like a full-time starter

and i imagine when push comes to shove we won't end up re-signing deshon

but i'd fully expect at least 3 of those 5 guys on offence to be re-signed and maybe all 5

By no means do I expect all of those guys to return. Just showing the list and how many "impact" players are on it. That 2018 draft was so good for us. And it's funny because 6 of those guys are already off the team and a 7th (OBJ) potentially on his way out.

the number of legit 2nd contracts out of that class is going to be ridiculous lol
