2022 General Draft Thoughts

great - no follow up questions from me

lots of nice potential pairings too for someone like jermaine johnson in round 1...

you could pair him with mafe who's a less pro-ready freak but who's got some nuance to his pass rush moves but who might be a little undercooked in the running game right now - that being said i think mafe's going R1

you could pair him with ebiketie who's again a little underwhelming as a run defender but is a super-nuanced and bendy pass rusher who's an immediate threat off the edge

you could pair him with ojabo and let ojabo red-shirt because there's no pressure on him being ready to play in year 1 because you already drafted a ready to cook edge in R1

you could pair him drake jackson who's added some weight and is a bit of a project but is athletic and bendy and who's inconsistent but you could put his top 5 rushes against anyone else in the class and you'd probably think he was the better player

you could pair him with josh paschal who's a potentially elite run defender but who projects well inside as an interior rusher with a great swim move (and probably the highest character guy in the whole draft class) - needs to develop another move but if he can then he'll be difficult to stop with his physical tools

and finally you could pair him with nik bonitto who's more of a SAM LB type - a nuanced and bendy edge rusher who's rush is predicated on speed (which he has lots and lots of) but pairs it with good hands and who looks like he could develop really nicely dropping into coverage too

ultimately id have no problems with any of those guys in R2 if we picked an edge R1 as well... it's a phenomenal edge class

i havent even included the tweeners/DL guys like Logan Hall and DeMarvin leal who potentially could fit here as base-down edge/5techs and interior sub-package rushers...
Dam what about boye?

My single draft thought is Jordan Davis is picked before 14.
I tried to run several scenarios today to see what players might be available - before the Eagles announced the trade a couple of minutes ago - and I have to say it's not unlikely that either Stingley, Davis, or a Tackle are available.

Would you take him in a trade back, or is he a "not for the Ravens" guy?
Oh he’s a Raven. Him or Linderbaum. We’re gonna draft one of them

i mean ultimately yes - im just not a fan tbh

this article is both scary and reassuring - scary because it suggests we're taking penning at 14, reassuring because it seems to be patently ridiculous and therefore complete and utter bullshit

if we start seeing more of these sorts of rumours (they'd quietened down for a while recently with penning dropping back into late 1st again) then maybe ill have to go and take another look at his tape and see if i can find that 1st round feeling for him that i dont have right now - but he really really scares me as a prospect in the 1st round

Pauline talks to a lot of people but man does he believe everything he hears. I appreciate the effort he gives and he does really well with later round guys in particular, but so many of him "what I'm hearing" just never comes true.

Honestly I could see the Seahawks selecting him. He fits Carroll's concept of OL perfectly.
